This was a disappointment from the start to finish. Started with hostess seating us at a dirty table. Followed by waiting for 13 min for a server to ever come to the table. Only to be surprised our waiter was actually the guy that walked by us at least 4 times not even acknowledging us or any form of communication Asked could we start with cleaning the table to which the response was oh its just a little chip. Wow really actually its sticky and sorry I’m bothering you because i don’t want to sit at someone else’s trash. While sitting there we noticed how the hostess actually just put menus on the tables and walking away before guests ever made it to the table. Also how two other tables in our servers section had empty drinks and it was after us that he finally checked on them. Not to mention him serving another table salads but no silverware in sight. I could see if the place was swamped but it wasn’t even hardly busy. We finally get drinks and ask him if the calamari had tentacles or just rings and was it good because it was our first time here. He claimed yes it was his favorite and that it was only rings. Im not sure where Todd learned to serve tables at but when bringing appetizer plates to the table and as you start to set one down and it has black pepper or whatever on it you dont pull it back up and clean it off with your thumb in front of your guest. WTH thats gross and thanks i wont be touching that plate at all. When the calamari came to the table immediately knew Todd was clueless because in fact it was tentacles. It was almost inedible not because it it was overcooked but because of how salty it was. Tasted like overused old bay and half a shaker of salt was used as seasoning. The redeeming quality todd did was once we ordered the reuben sandwich to share he did bring an extra plate and ketchup for the fries before our food was served. As for the reuben again salt was the main flavor. If it had thousand island dressing we couldn’t taste it also the sauerkraut was pretty much only on one half of the sandwich. Which i don’t mind to much because its not my favorite flavor. Bar food is bar food but this isnt even that good and the restaurant claims to be a gastro pub not even close. Wont recommend to anyone and wont be back. We both did get a good laugh at the beginning as we waited for service chatting about the comical sign reminding customers to a 90min table limit does that take into account your slower then snail service or do people generally get fed up and just leave to find better food and service elsewhere. Thank you for responding to my review and now it makes sense why todd doesnt pay attention because management doesnt either. We asked about tentacles because my bf prefers calamari with them. We got them regardless of being told they were not included but also prefer them overcooked until the next state is dust. And if it was his second shift what a poor company he works for that would leave him to his own devices instead of properly training him. I do not apologize for preferring food that tastes as it should and not like I’m licking...
Read moreWe recently dined at [Restaurant Name] with a group of four on a bustling Saturday night. While we had initially reserved a high-top table in the bar area, we were ultimately seated at a low table in front of the television. Unfortunately, the combination of the TV and a particularly boisterous group nearby made conversation challenging.
The Food:
I opted for the pork loin entree, which featured a flavorful combination of arugula, hummus, and dressing. While the dish was tasty, the portion of pork was a bit small and the sweet potatoes were diced quite finely. At $32, I had hoped for a more generous serving.
My wife thoroughly enjoyed the evening's special – trout with a farro side dish – which she declared excellent. My sister, who is health-conscious, chose her usual salmon salad and was pleased with her selection. Her husband savored the hanger steak sandwich.
Atmosphere:
As expected on a Saturday night, the restaurant was lively and filled with a predominantly local, mature crowd. The noise level in our particular location was elevated due to the proximity to the television and a nearby group.
Service:
The service was excellent, a consistent strength at [Restaurant Name]. Our server was attentive and friendly.
Would I Return?
Yes, I would. I appreciate the restaurant's local atmosphere and mature clientele. However, I believe their culinary strengths lie in their more casual offerings, such as burgers, sandwiches and nachos (I didn't have Nachos but they looked like a great option for sharing) . Should we return, I would request a high-top table away from the television or opt for seating in the...
Read moreStarted out okay on the patio, and our waiter Chuck was very attentive and responsive. However, the portions of the appetizers were pathetic! At $12.95 the calamari was barely enough for one -- 10 tiny rings and 2 squidlike. At $12.95 the 2 crab cakes were 2" diameter and not much substance to determine whether they were any good. I guess we mistakenly thought the appetizers at such overpricing would be a nice starter for 4 to share. Started to rain so we requested inside which at that point got a new very inattentive wait person Steffy. She said she was taking over and then disappeared for 15 mins. That gave us enough time to decide we did not want to pay the ridiculously inflated prices of $21 upwards for a meal. We're talking chicken and salmon and you know you can buy both for a fraction of the cost and surely turn out a comparable if not better dish at home. Sorry, but the way we were ignored inside just contributed to our ambivalence regarding the pricing. I mean, who wants to pay that kind of money to be ignored? We had been previously before tourist season (in February) and had a good experience. Too bad this wasn't the case with our recent trip with out of state visitors. This local will not be returning any time soon, if ever. You cannot teach customer service -- they've either got the desire to "help" (Chuck) or they do...
