Spectacular decor, but more emphasis needs to be placed on getting it right at this level of Resturant. Our food arrived cool, particularly the pasta course. Plates were not warm to touch and the stone dining table we are at didn’t help. Consider table cloths or place mats.
Table 11 should not be a dining table. It’s part of the bathroom area and right at the bottom of the stairs to the second level dining. All night long, head lights from cars exiting the Irving station shined in our eyes or we were watching people tuck in their tops. Our waitress was great but very inexperienced. We ordered a Manhattan with Woodford’s and it clearly wasn’t unless prices for premium liquor have dropped. Try offering a better vermouth or at least give diners the option. Our waitress did accommodate our timing otherwise the courses were coming too fast.
The entrée descriptions overstate the actual food. My swordfish, arrived just short of overdone, but flavorful. My wife’s selected entree was flavorful but served on a cold platter and quickly lost its appeal.
This is a new location for this ownership, but please rethink table locations and design and consider a reasonable dress code. We counted 6 baseball caps on diners - torn jeans and work clothes. Even the waitstaff commented on this distraction.
I know things will improve. Let’s hope.
Third Visit. 1/4/2023 This was our third visit to your restaurant, this time with another couple. We have several suggestions for you to consider. First your menu descriptions are inconsistent with the food placed before us. Your calamari salad makes no mention of greens in this case fresie that was the most prominent item. An Italian calamari salad is exactly as your menu described but didn’t deliver. The ceviche salad contained a minute amount of ceviche. Mostly greens. Our dining companions ordered a pasta course that arrived simultaneously with the entree. Generally in an Italian restaurant a pasta course is always served prior to the main meat/fish or poultry course. The crispy duck was not crispy. After it’s sous vide cooking stage it wasn’t pan seared to the extent of making it crispy. My lamb tangibe was way over spiced mostly salt. And the lamb was stringy. It may have come from the shank but there is no need to shred it to pieces. The scallop shrimp special was ok according our friend while my wife’s tenderloin was excellent. Please educate your staff on which wine to recommend with a particular dish. The riesling offered is very sweet and not a good accompaniment to any of the fish dishes. Our fist visit to your restaurant was a disaster, the second things seemed to improve, but as we further explore the menu, we have serious reservations. I’m am concerned about your ability to delivery...
Read moreOur first trip to the Sicilian Table in Falmouth. The big news is that they are one of the few places that have a happy hour and this is a big plus in my book. And the happy hour is like from 2-6 which is awesome.
This is located in the new building that was built in the Shaws parking lot so there is plenty of parking and the entrance is reasonably well lit. The restaurant is upscale with wicked nice fish sculptures hanging from the ceiling and soft mood lighting throughout. You can expect to pay more and this is obvious by the layout, with the flowing staircases, polished railings and high end everything. It's a very nice high class place that makes you feel elegant when you walk in.
Most of the restaurant was modestly attended but it was early, about 5:00 when we went, so we bellied up to the bar which was packed and we got the last two seats. Most customers were dressed casually at the bar and it was a comfortable space. The service was friendly and quick and the bar area was lively and very clean. I believe that drafts and a list of specialty drinks, and maybe some well drinks, were all 50% off which was very nice. We had a late lunch so we only ordered some truffle french fries to pick on with our drinks. They give you a good sized plate of fries, more than enough to share and they were very crisp and tasty with a sprinkle of cheese, very good. We got a couple of cider margaritas and they were good...a bit different...but still a good drink. We also got a couple of drafts and the Allagash White was cold and delicious.
We just stopped in to see what the place was like and as I looked around all the people at the bar were having fun and enjoying what ever they were eating so all happy faces everywhere you looked which is what a happy hour bar should be. I only gave it 4 stars because we only tried the fries so I didn't think I sampled enough items to make a better food review, so I will update my review if I return, (which seems likely). But overall the Sicilian Table is a nice upscale place with a fantastic long happy hour and you will...
Read moreAnniversary Dinner goes south This was an anniversary dinner, a special evening that went south. We had reservations Sunday for 6:30. We arrived at 6:10. After checking in we went upstairs to the bar as “our table was not available yet”. The desk was going to let us know when our table was ready. After about 30 minutes no one came to get us. Therefore, at about 6:40 I went down to the desk to inquire about our table. It was like we did not check in. We were finally seated at 6:50 Appetizers: We ordered drinks, and selected 3 Appetizers to share between the 4 of us. We ordered Bang Bang Shrimp and Mussels. The waiter left the table only to return to tell us there were no Mussels. OK , we switched to Butternut Squash. The appetizers were delivered to the table with no individual small plates and no serving utensils for sharing the appetizers. When several people share appetizers it is proper to have serving utensils with the dish for convenience and hygiene Oh, the mussels showed up. We did get the small plates after asking for them but no serving utensils. We used our individual utensils to dip into the appetizers. Dinner: Our 2 guests and I were auto select menu items without issues. My wife wanted Branzine. It was not available. She then ordered the Halibut. The waiter came back again no Halibut. OK she ordered the Pork Chop offering. The waiter came back a third time no Pork Chops. My wife settled for the Caesar Salad. The Ceasar Salad was dry with basically no taste. She ate less than half of it. I asked the waiter how can the restaurant be out of so many dinner choices. He said the restaurant receives its deliveries on Mondays. Therefore, sometimes especially on Sunday they run out of items on the menu. I wish I knew that Sunday was not a good day to dine at The Sicilian Table. Especially before I invited guests to celebrate an anniversary with us and dropped $300 on a poor dining experience. Not only will I not come back on a Sunday, I will not come...
