Portland Pie Company - Falmouth, ME — Restaurant in Falmouth

Thrilled that we now have a Portland Pie Company in Falmouth! We called our order in since online ordering isn't yet available for this location. They told us it would be ready in 20-25 minutes and it was definitely ready before then, because the pizza was already cool after a 15 minute drive home. The location is setup exactly like the old Ricetta's, but features Portland Pie décor. Pickup and paying were easy. Looking forward to getting more pizza here in the future!

Update 2/4/2023: Based on our previous experience (see below), we placed our order at 5 pm on a Saturday night and food was ready quite promptly--definitely less than the 30 mins they said it would take. Will order here again because their pizza dough is delicious, but will avoid busy nights (Fridays) or make sure to order well ahead of time!

Update 1/13/2023: I don't recommend ordering takeout here on a Friday night! We used their online ordering system (available for about a week as of Jan. 13, 2023) and got an automated email that our order would be ready for pickup at 6:18 pm, a half hour after placing our order. We arrived at 6:15 because of our earlier experience when the food was practically cold when we got it, but our order wasn't ready until 7:10, nearly 1.5 hours after we placed it. Even though we checked with the cashier several times to let them know we were still waiting, they weren't able to speed up the process. Really disappointed that it took that long and that they don't provide a better estimate and tracking system. The food was great but it was a frustrating experience overall. Communication with staff was poor. We told the hostess that we had a party of nine AND two babies. We were told we would have to sit at two separate tables. Which wasn’t impressive but we would do it. Well, the math didn’t add up to the number of chairs at the tables, which brought our party to three separate tables—just enough for each of our families to sit separately. If we were going to go to dinner and eat like that, we would just eat at home or do take out. The staff acknowledged our distaste in the situation but did nothing to fix it. After drink orders were taken we sat at our separate tables for about ten more Minutes when they spontaneously decided to push three other nearby tables (all Of these tables were empty when we were originally sat, no reason at all this couldn’t have been done from the get-go) together so we could eat together. Drinks were brought out but the order was wrong, two out of 6 adults missing entirely. Everyone ordered pizza and one simple salad. It took an hour for food to be served ...we joked the ingredients must have been picked up directly in Italy while we waited. The server was unimpressed (seemingly over-worked probably) and only perked up and was friendly when we were ready to leave.

So much of what made this feel like s poor experience could have been cleared from the start, but left us awkwardly trying to see how we could fit, and then feeling isolated and weird about not going out as a group and just being divided by families.

We had reservations for 4 last evening. We were promptly seated. Wasn't crowded at all but from the moment she arrived our waitress hurried us through. She kept returning to the table to ask if we were ready to order. We were meeting friends so there some initial small talk. We ordered an appetizer and then between us we ordered 2 10"" pies a calzones and 2 entree sized salads. The waitress brought everything at the same time..there were too many plates for the table and it was impossible to get to the appetizer so it pretty much went uneaten. I was really annoyed that the food was all brought together creating an uncomfortable dining experience. As for the food, the cheese pizza was exceedingly greasy ; the caesar salad greens were wilted. The other pizza and an entree sized garden salad were fine. Throughout the entire meal the waitress kept returning to hurry us along. When I complained about the overcrowded table and the appetizer she just mumbled about the kitchen being fast with orders. I suggested in the future that she put in the appetizer order first so people could enjoy it BEFORE the main courses arrived. This is the 1st time I have felt the need to complain about our experience at Falmouth Portland Pie.
