Came here on Valentine's Day, as we weren't able to get a reservation anywhere else and our other options were not taking walk ins. However, it's a good thing that happened otherwise we wouldn't have discovered Fuego! Now we have a solid choice for dinner or lunch if we are in the Portland/Falmouth area.
The service was pretty good despite it being busy, and overall our experience was a positive one. My only real critique would be to add more lighting in the area where we were seated (in a booth by the window next to the bar). But truthfully it didn't detract from the meal or our time there all too much.
I'm not sure if they are owned by the same folks who run Cocos in Biddeford and El Mexicano in Sanford, because their menu is similar. My husband had the chicken fajitas, I tried their coconut shrimp as well as the birria enchiladas. Everything was delicious and we were so happy with our choices. In particular I loved the gaujillo chili sauce on my enchiladas. I will also say they make a great margarita and you're getting extremely good value for the amount of food and alcohol they provide. If they wanted to change their pricing they could but it's clear they want to provide a place that is affordable and delicious to couples and families alike....
Read moreThis was my first visit to this restaurant. I was in a party of five, and we ordered varied items off the menu. Everyone raved about their selection, and each of us had to take a doggie bag because the portions were generous. I had the taco salad with chicken. I've ordered this numerous times over my 73 years, and I think this is the best rendition I've ever eaten. The vegetables were very fresh tasting and cut to smaller sizes, so it was easy to get a forkful of a nice mix, rather than just lettuce. The guacamole and chicken were unusually tasty. Therre was a nice balance of items in the salad..not just a ton of lettuce and beans. I don't know how they did it, but even the taco bowl stood out as tasting exceptionally good. The service was prompt, the food came out in a timely fashion, and various servers came by to check if we needed anything, and if everything was good.. The restaurant was cute with a cheerful vibe, and we were not rushed. The price was reasonable for 5 meals, 1 beer, 1 horchata (delish), and 1 diet coke...total "$74+/-, not including tip.

Read moreI don’t usually provide reviews but we had such a wonderful experience at Fuego that I feel compelled to share. I don’t have fond memories of the previous restaurant, Bueno Loco (I really wanted to like them). Fuego was a wonderful surprise! The food was fresh and delicious!! The portions were substantial. I ordered a baja fish bowl. It was fabulous!! The guacamole was unbelievable!! We loved the plantains (but we prefer my Cuban plantains🤣). My premium margarita was the best! Though I was hesitant, we treated ourselves to churros😳. I love Cuban churros. I was pleasantly surprised…they were delicious! They arrived with chocolate for dipping and whipped cream. I loved them plain! Our server was friendly, answered all our questions and was very professional. My husband and I are thrilled to have a Mexican restaurant close to Cumberland that is authentic and delicious. We...
