The caprese sandwich I ordered yesterday was big on mozzarella but very weak on flavor. The balsamic was either watered down or sparingly applied to the sandwich. And the basil/pesto oil was almost nonexistent, and seemed to be concentrated to the very middle of the sandwich. Seriously, the first couple of bites, I tasted only cheese and tomato, which are very mild in flavor. It was a thick, made on the spot sandwich, but weak on taste. Recommendation: toast the bread.
I also had a container of the tortellini salad which was packed with pasta, but was so over seasoned. I don't know if it was salt, or just the Italian seasoning they add, but it was hard to eat, it made me wince. I've occasionally heard of people throwing away food because they couldn't eat it, but I'd never done that until today.
The Polar water I bought tasted great, and I loved eating at the tables outside, but could not find a garbage can for the wrappings. The deli appearance was very nice. The two women working were adequately engaging, but were also busy doing other things.
It was expensive, but I love homemade sandwiches, so might give them another chance. I think I'd just be more descriptive of how I want my sandwich made, not rely on their basic. I will stay away from the tortellini salad, that was a...
Read moreOur very dear friends who live in Falmouth had a loss in their family and were observing the Jewish mourning tradition of “Shiva”, 7 days staying at the departed’s home, praying, remembering, and sharing with visitors. During this time, it is customary for the mourning relatives to be tended to by members of the community, including having all meals prepared for them.
We live far away in Central America and couldn’t travel in time to be with our friends, so we decided to send them a “traditional” meal to their home. Having never been in Falmouth for more than a few days, and not being familiar with the culinary scene, it came down to a google search.
After a couple of unsuccessful attempts at reaching out to delis with less than stellar attention, Rhonda and the folks at Leavitt & Sons came through for us.
With prompt and clear communication, they prepared and delivered a delicious sandwich platter for 15 people (as described by our friends), including our costume note to them. I know it sounds like a simple task, but it wasn’t for the first businesses we contacted, and having a deadline, during mourning time, the assistance was greatly...
Read moreI've been trying really hard to like this shop, but I just can't. I tried the signature L&S roast beef today, grabbed a caffeinated beverage from the cooler and a small bag of chips, $24.59 then was prompted for a tip while the cashier stared at my hand while choosing.
The sandwich was poorly constructed for a bulkie roll, the roast beef is boars head brand, but it must have been a few days since slicing, no red or pink at all. No salt, no pepper. Onions were at least 24 hours since being cut, and I'd venture to guess it was closer to 48 hours. The horseradish sauce was also boars head brand.
For a $26 dollar lunch, I'd like at least something to be home made and unique but this...
