Very quaint interior with old wood and it looks very cool inside but it is very misleading. You think you're going into a cool cape cod tavern but thats not the case. I will preface to say I have worked in the restaurant industry for over 15 years as a server, bartender and supervisor. We were waiting for 15 minutes at the front and the host walked up there multiple times and never once greeted us. Finally someone behind us jumped ahead of us to put their names in but both of our parties were waiting behind another party. When I told the host we have been waiting a while a gentleman said we could sit at the bar. Lol? I said no thank you. I was with my boyfriend and we are on vacation looking for a nice restaurant after exploring. I am fairly local and spend quite a bit of time on the cape, we like to go to places that have clam chowder its kind of our thing to try all the different chowder on cape, I'm kinda a foodie and like to try different things. So anyway we get seated and our waitress was super polite and friendly. I got some coconut drink on their menu and literally it was like if you liquified sweet tarts with an aftertaste of coconut. Idk if the bar was understaffed or they never heard of a drink shaker before but good god it was so sweet, I could not drink it. To top it off they added what I can only presume as dried coconut but it looked like shriveled up fruit slices as well as shredded dried coconut. It was a weird choice for garnish. We got two cups of chowder and it was watery with giant potato chunks and so so so salty. We discussed having dinner but seeing the prices 35-40 dollar dishes, 18 dollar burgers and pasta primavera with goat cheese? That is like a straight up sin, I understand you want to mix different flavors and make interesting dishes but that just doesn't make sense. We decided to not even finish our drinks and leave. I didn't want to spend money on something that might even make us sick, as you can just tell something is off there. I feel bad for the server as she was the best thing about the entire experience she deserves to work somewhere where management gives a crap about what they're doing. The clam chowder did have real clams though because you could tell by the sand. I sadly will not be back or ever reccomend this joint to anyone that visits us on cape. We used the single stall bathrooms that were also gross and both had a line. You can probably go there and get beer and enjoy the music and the cool interior but not much else. It has so much potential but failed us exponentially. Oh and two drinks that we barely drank and two cups of chowder...
Read moreWe spent a few nights in Falmouth while visiting Martha's Vineyard in July. We checked into a local campground (Campresort) and asked the owner if there was a good seafood restaurant she would recommend and she suggested Quarterdeck. When we drove downtown, we initially tried other restaurants we found on Yelp, but couldn't even find a parking space. We drove onto Main Street and found a parking spot on the street only a short walk from the restaurant. The place was packed and were told the wait would be over an hour. They took our name and told us to check back in about an hour. We walked to other restaurants on the street and were told the same thing, so we shopped along the street (really nice shops) and the time passed quickly. We checked back in at the Quarterdeck, and we were told it would be a few more minutes. Eventually we were seated in a rustic area of the dining area. The place mat informed us that some of the wood dated back from previous structures in the 1600s. Our server, Charlotte, was so helpful. My husband wanted the fried seafood platter, but we didn't know what "scrod" was (we are from Tennessee) Charlotte explained the fish was white, flaky, and didn't have a fishy taste. My husband ordered the platter and I got the "Lazy Man's Lobster" (this was shelled lobster in a garlic/butter/seasoning served in a small bowl) The food arrived quickly, and my husband took a few bites and stated, "This was worth the wait!" Definitely NOT the kind of thing he would normally say. While we ate, a 3-man band set up in the bar area and began performing. I asked, "Is that recorded music?" My husband said, "No, that's live." Whatever songs were being sung, it sounded like Irish tunes and the crowd was encouraged to sing along. Believe it or not, the volume of noise in the restaurant was not unbearable or uncomfortable. We really enjoyed the place/food/service. When we returned to our campground, I told the manager that we were extremely happy with her...
Read moreFood was decent but our problem was service. This place was highly recommended to us by our hotel where we were staying to celebrate our 40th anniversary.
We both ordered the prime rib which we both enjoyed.
We had a waitress/server who I will not name because she was young, but I will refer to her as D, who was completely pathetic as far as service went.
Taking our order I asked how the baked potato came and she looked at me like what do you mean. I said you know, butter, sour cream, bacon or cheese and she said still looked like no one had ever asked her that before and said no, just butter and sour cream.
After we got our food that was it, she walked by our table 9 times I counted and never once looked over or came over to ask how we were doing or refill our soda and water glasses. Finally I had to get up and go to another waitress and ask for a soda refill. Yes she was very pleasant and helpful. Then I had to get up a second time because again D never returned to our table and actually every time she walked past stared at the floor and never looked at our table. The third time at the end of dinner D was there when I asked the other waitress for a refill, D said oh I will get that for you and brought me a full glass of soda, which was nice, but no ice???
I usually don't but called the manager after I left to at least let her know. The manager came on the phone and I explained that D was completely pathetic as far as service for us. By the way I was not rude or yelling or anything, just stating the fact.
Managers response: I find that you using the worn pathetic is very demeaning LOL. So I knew it was falling on deaf ears and told her to shut up and hung up.
Again food was good, D's service pathetic. They need to have nicer silverware as theirs looked like tin camping silverware.
No I would not recommend this place and I told our hotel about our disappointing anniversary dinner as well.
PS: Almost across the street is La Cusina Italian which was...
