Hello - We have been residents of Falmouth since 1977 and have enjoyed eating at Seafood Sams MANY time through out the years. The food has always been fresh and delicious(therefore the 4 stars) but this is the first time we have had any kind of criticism. We had dinner there this evening and were there before 8:00 (closes at 9:00). Now I realize this is the end of tourist season (which is why we came out to dinner), and staff sometimes burn out after a busy season, but one section was closed - which we've experienced before. No problem. But one of the staff immediately put up a sign, as we approached, that the next section which customers were already sitting in and we were about to sit, in was closed. Frankly we do not care to sit in the far end of the building. Many other customers waiting for their dinners to be ready were told there was a dining room at the other end of the building. To keep this short, two of the young women kept hovering around making the other diners in that section and ourselves feel a little rushed. Keep in mind that it was only 8:00 and the restaurant, as you know, closes at 9:00 PM... hmmmm and hour to go - plenty of time for people to eat and for them to clean up. After a another customer (after us) sat down, the staff person put a chair in the pathway to leave that area, and then put a sign on it "this section closed". I asked her if that was a fire code violation and she said no. I suggested she speak with her manager about that and she said he was in the back. I said I'd be happy to speak with him and she left. A few minutes later another girl came back and took off the sign and pushed the chair it was on, to the back of that section. Attitude in waitstaff does not bode well for restaurants and we were surprised to find that at Seafood Sams. Again, the food was delicious. Never had a problem before, and I would have preferred to discuss this in person with management, but one was not available and could not find a place on the website. Always has been great food; since it is counter service and people clean up after themselves why was "clean up" service this...
Read moreI have heard good things about this place from my family that frequents the vineyard. On their recommendation we planned to hit them up on our way back home one visit We got fried chicken, fish and chips, fried mini shrimp, and fried oyster and calamari combo. I ordered online for in store pickup and it was only a short time that we had to wait to get the food. It was striking though how standoffish the staff was. Came in with smiles and they were all just pissed at something and thought it was reasonable to put that on us somehow. It was our first time there and we don't know how their procedure works. So once the behind the counter people said it'll be a couple of minutes my son and I walked over to get condiments. There was a woman there who with a face like we just punched her son in the head with a metal bat looked at us and said this is for Eden only if you're carrying out you get it behind the counter. I deal with humans like that all day long so it doesn't phase me but oh my do I sure notice when people behave in this manner. One of the guys behind the counter who was nicer than the others asked if we wanted any sauces to go with our meal. I mentioned that we did and we also wanted some vinegar to go with it when she said no problem we'll add it to the bag. When we picked up the food they did not put any in so I reminded completely nicely to put the vinegar in the bag which he ended up doing but I swear he gave me a face as if I was a jerk when he's the one who didn't do what was requested and what he said he would do. The food was pretty good I thought the pricing was more than I would have expected to be off of the island and the quality is like a fried fish kind of place. I won't go back because of the customer service there however if you eat fried food like this I would say it's probably pretty good. A positive thing to mention is their calamari seems like it might be real as they didn't only have those Circle disc things they were the Tails also which my son did enjoy and was...
Read moreThis was my first time eating at Seafood Sam's. After viewing the menu, I ordered the lobster dinner platter with a cole slaw and a baked potato for 27.95 plus an additional $2 charge for using their lobster cracker. I received my $2 back once I returned the item. Also, I bought a drink afterward for $2. They gave me a device to alert me when the food was ready, which took approximately 15 to 20 minutes. There were plenty of seats to dine in. When I received my food, I also got a bib. The lobster tastes fresh along with the potatoes. When I finished eating, I decided to order some food to go. I noticed on the menu by the entry that there was a 2 piece southern fried chicken dinner for 12.99. I went up to the register to order it but noticed a special sign that displays on Sunday a special for 3 piece fried chicken dinner for 12.99. I mentioned it, but I forgot that it was Sunday. I would think the cashier would mention that today is Sunday, so I can upgrade your meal. I don't expect much because I guess good help is hard to find. For my sides, I got the mac & cheese with the cole slaw and butter milk biscuit. The chicken and biscuit were good. The Cole Slaw was not the worst, but the mac & cheese is the worst. The mac & cheese tasted like noodles, but...
