Although it says “casino” in the name, it is not a casino in any way. It is a restaurant, with a gorgeous view of the water during the day.
They had a large bar at the entrance to the left, that takes up quite a lot of the space. The dining area was spacious and elegant, in full holiday sprit. During the Summer, they have tables and chairs on the deck, so that the customers can enjoy the beautiful view of the water.
We started off with some cocktails, Caramel Apple Bomb and Banana Nut Bread. Yes, they are cocktails, not desserts, well, kind of a drinkable dessert? And both excellent dessert cocktails!
For appetizer, we ordered Vongole alla Florentine. It was perfectly cooked, packed with flavor. We also had Roasted Beet Salad. We told our server that we will be sharing this salad at the time of order. To our surprise, they divided the salad into two equal amounts on two plates, so that it was easy to eat. How considerate!
We all ordered different main dish. The first two ordered Baked Lasagna and Veal Saltimbocca. They were both tasty. Veal was quite nice. I went with “Frutti di Mare” Fra Diavolo with spicy red sauce. It had loads of seafood! And each was a good size too. It was spicy but not too spicy, just right. I say this was pretty amazing!
But, I must say, my hubby had the most impressive dish of the evening. He ordered Baked Stuffed Lobster which totally stole the spot light! The presentation of this dish was not the only impressive and great thing about this dish. It was prepared with much care, it was delicious!
Then some desserts to share. We went with Tiramisu and Crème Brûlée. They were both pretty good, disappeared quickly.
While we were there, they had live band came and started to perform. It can get kind of loud in that space. The service was friendly and polite. The only thing was that after the silverware was taken away with finished appetizer plates, she didn’t bring back new set. We had to grab some new silverwares from other empty tables so that we could eat… Other than that, it was a really nice dinner. We all enjoyed all the dishes that we ordered. The drinks were really good too! I would love to go back during the warm/hot season to see...
Read moreWe visited Soprano's last year and the food was great (5 stars). We had Scallops Sangianaro, pan seared scallops with artichokes, mushrooms, tomato, garlic, with basil parmesan risotto. But this time (earlier in the day) we found out from Cathy (the greeter/food service manager) that the chef was the same, but they could replicate the dish, even though it wasn't on the new menu at The Wharf. So we decided to go there for dinner. Cathy greeted us and said, "You came back!" and we told her we'd like to order pan seared scallops similiar to Scallops Sangianaro. She said no problem she would advise the kitchen & wait staff. We ordered and when it came out it was plain BROILED scallops not pan seared, with no butter or flavoring. Plain veggies no spices or butter & a small portion of coleslaw. We advised our server and all she said was she was sorry. So we loaded the dish with salt & pepper & ate it because we were hungry. It was the most horrible dish we've ever eatten. Since the scallops were broiled, they didn't have a nice sear on them & had a bland taste. Upon leaving Cathy was helping the wait staff deliver food to the tables. So I approached her & told her. She said she told the chef to broil the scallops. That's not what we ordered & told her & our server, it was supposed to be pan seared. Then at least it would have been seared in butter to give it flavor. She said she was sorry. She didn't offer us dessert on the house or a discount on our bill for such an aweful tasteless meal. We found that absurd since we already told our server, paid the bill, and also told her. Since we work for a company in the area with 250 associates, we will make sure to let everyone know to NEVER go to The Wharf since they do not treat their customers with respect. As far as the chef being the same as Soprano's, that wasn't true. Otherwise they would have definitely known how to prepare a dish similiar to...
