Quick get-away weekend and we wanted seafood, which on Cape Cod offers a plethora of options. Chose the Flying Bridge because of the harbor views and reviews. My wife went classic with belly clams and fries. I went cod with panko on grilled broccolini—a safe comfort food order. Then I saw the Cauliflower Steak with harrisa and citrus tahini yogurt with pine nuts. Had to try that and so glad I did. Stunningly good. The cauliflower was cooked perfectly, initially crisp to the bite and opening to a soft warm inside with that nice grill flavor. Placed on a bed of the silky smooth tahini-citrus-yogurt, the whole bite was memorable. The yogurt tang was balanced by the vaguely nutty tahini and the harrisa lingered in the background with gentle heat. The pine nuts added a nice pop of crunch against the soft cauliflower. The whole dish, from ingredients to cooking to presentation was exceptional. Now for the cod. Usually a cod with panko is a piece of fish covered with buttery breadcrumbs. Not this time. This thick cut piece of cod was cooked perfectly. Not only did the fish nearly melt in the mouth, but the panko was just enough to add a nice crisp to the cod but not so much as to overwhelm the fish under a pile of breadcrumbs! A few capers sprinkled on top released a nice refreshing salty-vinegar burst into the mix of every bite. Of course the broccolini was perfectly grilled. Overall, the meal was so good, I asked to see the chef to shake his hand on preparing these meals. The service was great too (ask for Tarjet) prompt with a sense of humor. Two words: go now!

Where do I begin?!? Since I was on Cape Cod, I wanted seafood - and in Falmouth, it seems the place to go was here.. locals love it, tourists love it, and I was ready for some good seafood. The facility itself is awesome, and we had a table right on the waterway- We dined to the passing of all sorts of boats. The place filled up quickly, and we realized how fortunate we were to have a table by the water. There was live music from the bar, far enough away to be background, but close enough to enjoy - and talented musicians. The day was a perfect temperature, and the building provided the shade we needed to be protected from direct sunlight. Our server was great, and the turnaround from the kitchen was surprisingly quick. The only mixup occurred when our food was delivered - but we all shared each other’s plates anyway, so it was a non-issue. (Side note: I don’t normally share plates- but there were SO many things we wanted to try that we had no choice. And I am so glad we did) The food was off-the-charts amazing, the blackened options were some of the best I have ever had. The onion rings were the kind you can only find in New England, and the house-made horseradish sauce is perfect. Pricey- just so you know.. but if I am paying for an experience, not just a meal, this was it - and worth every penny. Well done. 🏆

The good: Easy parking, was sat for dinner (around 5:30pm) quickly. Sitting by the water was a lovely experience. Nicely shaded around the time we ate. Was fun to watch the boats come and go. Very lively. The appetizers and entrees were great, and also came out pretty quickly. The weird: We asked for a high chair or booster seat for our 2 year old but the hostess walked away and never came back. The chair was just tall enough that we didn’t ask again. Our waiter took our order starting with drinks, then would go back through the group for appetizers, and then finally went back through everyone for their entrees. Was confusing and took forever. During dinner, the staff opened up a plastic curtain on the deck above and, no exaggeration, drenched my right side with old cold rain water. I exclaimed and they peaked their heads out and said “sorry” clearly they didn’t meant to dump water on guests eating but maybe don’t mess with that stuff while there are tables underneath. I would have appreciated a heads up beforehand or a free drink once I was soaking on my right side. The strawberry shortcake looked great but was kinda gross. The bottom biscuit was SOAKED and sloppy in syrup/water/juice. Would definitely not get that again. The cayman lemonade was gross. Just tasted like bitter water.

We were a party of 8 and told it would be 30 to 40 minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later our table was ready. We started with boneless Buffalo wings which were flavorful but not very spicy. The steamed mussels in a flavorful tomato sauce were excellent and the clam chowder had lots of clams and was tasty. The side salad was large enough to be an entire lunch with added protein. Warm rolls would have been better if the butter was not ice cold. The restaurant has a large sushi menu and was a popular item. Our kids enjoyed the California rolls, the salmon and tuna nigiri and the spicy tuna. The fried sea scallops were buttery and the portion was huge, at least a dozen scallops. The grilled swordfish was excellent and came with a choice of 2 sides. The asparagus was a mixed bag with some overcooked and some undercooked. The broccolini was cooked properly. The grilled halibut was fresh. I wanted the risotto but was told there was an uncharged of $6 which was crazy so I opted for the mashed potato which was actually very good. We decided to skip dessert but there were interesting choices.

We picked this place because it came highly recommended by a friend who is a frequent visitor of this restaurant and cape. The service was okay ….. nothing special. The server didn’t really seem all that welcoming or friendly. Ordered couple of appetizers. The bang bang shrimp was good. The Buffalo chicken really had no flavor. Then came the wait times for the food. It was longer than an hour and it was freezing outside. Everyone on our table got their food but my dish took another 15-20 mins and everyone was done eating by the time I got my dish. Very disappointing. I think this place is overrated for the quality of food and service. I was super disappointed by the service on top of the mediocre food. The scallops had absolutely no flavor and it was nothing spectacular. I had really high expectations from the google ratings and reviews and I am sorry to say this place let me down in every possible way. Would not recommend it at all unless you just want onion rings, bang bang shrimp and some clam chowder.
