Shang Hai was our go to place and we were ordering once per week for almost 2 months....then the quality and freshness mysteriously disappeared 😑 I usually order(ed) different entree every time because I was convinced that everything they had was great! My partner always gets chicken fried rice and spring rolls....he would rave about how fresh it tasted, it was always fluffy and he liked the chicken they used because it wasn't small hard pieces of chicken in it like other places. The spring rolls always looked soft although I never tried them myself. But our last 2 orders have been just bad (we gave them a 2nd chance after the first bad order, thinking it had to be a fluke). The chicken fried rice was old and dry with hard pieces in it, the spring rolls were dark and hard, too crunchy. And my general's chicken tasted like it came from one of the buffets in town, very hard dry pieces of chicken....essentially it seems like things are just being overcooked, but there's no way to know I commented last time I was paying at the register for my order. Explained how much we liked the food before and how it hadn't been the same recently. I asked if they had a new vendor or maybe a new cook but he really didn't understand what I was talking about so sadly I wasn't able to find out if this was just a temporary issue. Read moreOrdered for our company party on Christmas eve. The food was good but not what we ordered. The delivery driver got overly upset when I accidently handed him 20 less then what the order was. he then shouted "are you serious this is all you're giving me". I immediately handed him the proper amount. after realizing what I had done and asked him not to get upset with me. I then called to correct the order they stated I "lost" the money and we ordered wrong. but offered us 20 dollars and said they would bring extra food to make up for it. That was much appreciated but when I called back to get a receipt they then informed us they would not be delivering the extra food. I understand not having enough drivers and it being the holidays but don't promise what you can't do or at least call and let us know you cant instead of me calling and finding out. I dont know if we will be ordering again. I don't leave reviews often. I should state they offered for one of us to go and get the food but we couldn't leave while on shift today. again understandable but I felt it could have been handled...
Read moreOne of the best customer service experiences I've ever had! I was in Fargo for business this week & I ordered delivery to my hotel room from Shang Hai. The food was delivered extremely quickly, hot, & delicious. 10 minutes after the delivery driver left, I realized that I hadn't gotten a copy of the receipt to include in my expense report. I called the restaurant & asked if they could possibly email one to me & the woman I spoke to said that they didn't have that capability. I understood & thanked her anyway. My fault for forgetting. Guess I'll just have to cover this one myself. About 30 minutes later I get a text from a number I don't recognize. I open it up, & find a picture of the receipt that she had taken with her own cell phone & was kind enough to send to me. That's going above and beyond in my book! The food was great, but I'll never forget the unexpected service that came...
