I’ve been coming to Wurst for a long time and have always loved and had a great experience there, but lately the service has been slipping and last night was particularly egregious so I’d like to share the feedback with the hope that it makes its way into actionable improvements.
For starters, we didn’t have enough forks for everyone in our party, and even with informing our server, we never got more forks. There weren’t any at the surrounding tables either, so some couples shared forks. Secondly, everyone noticed that the food was cold when it arrived. The portion sizes have also noticeably decreased despite the fact that prices have increased in recent years. Most egregiously, one member of our party didn’t get his food until almost a half hour after everyone else had finished eating, so probably 45 minutes after everyone else’s arrived. They did comp his meal so that was appreciated. Someone else in our group got his food about 15 minutes before everyone else, so he awkwardly ate by himself while everyone else waited for their meals. They later delivered that same person a second meal because they’d given him the wrong meal the first time. They also delivered us a soup that no one in our group ordered, so we got 2 extra dishes that no one ordered or paid for. Not a problem for us at all, but very telling that there were clearly problems happening in the kitchen. The runner delivering our food had a sour attitude and our server never came to refill waters the whole time we were there and she was hard to reach. All this despite the fact that it was not busy at all while we were there.
I genuinely love Wurst and want to see it thrive, so it was really disappointing to experience this chaos. Some people in the party said they’d never be back. I’d love to see the service reined back in. Please feel free to reach out for additional details, I’d genuinely love for this review to be considered constructive and lead to...
Read moreDrinks: Was out of a beer I wanted to try.
Service: Waited an hour for food because they ran out of bread, which our waiter finally admitted to after 45 min of waiting. At what point does a manager say, "we're down to 4 buns at 7pm but let's not bake any more until a 5th person walks in the door." If you bake a dozen too many and have to give them away, throw them out (or, let's be honest, use them the next day) how does that equal better than making a paying customer wait an hour! I also had to walk to the bar to refill my water as there was no effort until we finished eating (or during the hour wait) for an offer to replenish our beer orders or water.
Food: Polish sausage was good. German sausage was way too salty. Fries were soggy, warm but not hot and tasted like they were fried in same oil as fish. Gross. Beer cheese dipping sauce was terrible consistency, like wet scrambled eggs and I didn't bother for a second taste. I've had it before and it was fine so either this was old and reheated or just made wrong.
My dining partner and I both agreed the wait for the food was a huge detractor in thinking we'd return. No offer for a comped beverage, even 1 of the meals or a visit from the manager to our table to apologize for the, again, hour-long wait for a hot dog and fries. If the place were packed and it was a weekend night I'd totally understand but there were maybe 8 customers in the entire place and it was a very slow Tues evening. This says a lot to me about how a restaurant is run and maybe we weren't wearing hip enough clothes or had the cool kidz hair but we were paying customers and residents of this community and if this is the effort put forth by this establisment, I doubt I'll make the...
I initially thought this restaurant was the best but now I realize that Wurst is living up to how it sounds. In the past, I have been satisfied with the food and service from this business. I estimate that I have dined at this Wurst location about 50x over the past few years.
Recently, I rode my electric skateboard charge my battery while I ate at Wurst. As I was plugging in my charger near the back door, a lady (who said she was the owner's wife) became irate and claimed that I was going to overload the circuit and burn the place to the ground. I laughed because I literally thought she was joking with me and was a great actor. She was actually serious. I left hungry for polite service so I pulled up to the Spicy Pie down the street. The Spicy Pie employees saw me with my board and charger in-hand and cleared off a table with outlets underneath so that I could enjoy some delicious pizza next to my battery charger.
For one to succeed in life, they must see opportunity in the darkest places. I see an exquisite opportunity for young entrepreneurs looking to start a business in any type of service industry. I recommend them to visit Wurst and take notes on how the "owner's wife" treats people that are giving her money so that they can understand what not to do.
Additionally, I recommend the owner to send his wife to counseling so that she can develop on her emotional management skills to prevent HER from starting their business on fire.
Farewell Wurst, I will miss you.
Yours...
