My husband and I were excited that an Unos popped up in our area. We are fans of Chicago style deep dish and visit Chicago quite often. Well, on May 5, 2022 we ordered a large meat deep dish. The waiter took my card in the back to process without explaining why he walked passed the bar register up front in clear view. He was gone out of my sight for at least 15-20 minutes with my card. I had to ask the bartender twice what was going with my card. I was informed their register wasn't working, so they had to use the hotel's (Delta) for the transaction. This rubbed me the wrong way. Then on top of that, I receive this small box of pizza they pass off as a large. I know a Chicago style large (as aforementioned we visit Chicago regularly) and that wasn't it! Even the bartender looked at it and said that it wasn't a large (based on the box size). The nosey waiter (that walked off with my card) says it is a large and asked how many people is it for? Ummm, excuse me, but that is none of his business to which I kindly let him know. I requested a refund. Then some guy comes up (never identifies himself in a casual suit) tries to persuade me on the matter and if they can offer me something else. I said no. I would like a refund. Then he and a lady take the pizza in the back for 5 minutes or so. They come back out with whom I believe was the chef that states it is a large, but their large is not the same large as Unos stand alone restaurants. So, basically they have the Unos name but passing off less than size pizza. He takes my card to issue the refund and I was told approximately 5-10 business days. Fast forward to June 3, 2022 and I had still not received my refund. Matter of fact, the initial charge of $36.04 had been deducted from my account on May 10, 2022. And now pushing a month later still no refund. I call and speak with the manager Mike on Friday, June 03, 2022 explaining the issue. He takes down all my card information and claims they will issue the refund immediately. Well, I wait all weekend, Monday and even Tuesday. No refund. I call their corporate office in Massachusetts and get a call back Wednesday from Fred. He apologies and begins to look into the matter and try to work out my refund from his end but couldn't because it wasn't an online order. I appreciate his initiative to try and make things right and noting things were not right based on my experience. He did say this location does offer a smaller pie and this might be something they may need to look into. I agreed, because with the name Unos, customers come in expecting the normal Unos size and brand. At any rate, the Farmington Hills manager Mike calls me back and ask for my card information again. He claimed he didn't originally process the refund because he didn't have my card's expiration date. Lies! I gave him ALL my card information. I asked him if that was the case why didn't he call me back on Friday when he was supposedly initiating the refund. He just apologized and thank me for my patience. He really had no excuse because there is no excuse for this. I check my account Wednesday, June 8, 2022 and manager Mike has dipped he hand back into my bank account, rather than a refund, he charged my $36.04 again. So now this small Unos large has cost me $72.08. My husband and I go back to restaurant at this point to talk with manager Mike. He acts oblivious saying you didn't get your refund and he processed it yesterday. My husband let him know I was not refunded but double charged. Mike goes to check in the back with his finance person and decides to just hand over cash after we had to waited 20-30 minutes. I also notified Fred at Unos corporate of the double charge, multiple blunders and lack of good customer service. He stated he tried reaching out to the owner but had not heard back (at that time) and would try again. Here's the warning....if you're looking for original Unos sizes, good, speedy and accurate customer service this location is not it!!!...
Read moreA year ago, I first visited this Uno’s. As I mentioned in my review of that visit, I have been a fan of Uno’s pizza for over 40 years. Unfortunately, there had been no Uno’s around Southeast Michigan for years. I was excited to see the Uno’s open in Farmington. To recap that experience, my order of a Four Cheese pizza was smothered in tomato sauce (which a true Uno’s Four Cheese should not have), as well as being burnt. I accepted the manager’s offer of giving them another chance and the second chance was more like a true Uno’s Four Cheese pizza should be.
I stopped at the Uno’s pizza last Saturday and ordered a large Four Cheese deep dish pizza. When the pizza came out, the only things that were deep dish was the crust around the edge and the pan it was cooked in. The middle of the pizza was a quarter inch thick at most. (Not close a “deep dish” in my opinion.) The crust was hard as a rock. You could pound nails with it. The bottom crust was burnt black in most places.
I have no idea what happened since my last visit, but it is obvious that the cook either has no training in preparing a genuine Uno’s pizza, or just doesn’t give a rap. And that goes for the manager as well. It is completely inexcusable for junk like that to come out of the kitchen in the name of a genuine Uno’s pizza.
If the cook or the manager were so proud of their work, they could have come to my table and apologized in person. Instead, they left the apologies to a novice, inexperienced young waitress who was not to blame for the shoddy food she delivered from the kitchen.
Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me. I can assure you that I have made my last visit to this Uno’s establishment. If I want genuine Uno’s pizza, I’ll consider making the trip to Birch Run – or better yet, to Chicago.
I will not patronize this establishment again, and if you are interested in genuine, deep dish Uno’s pizza, you should not either. Uno's pizza has been my favorite for 40 years, but yesterday's pizzas were the worst Uno's pizzas I have ever had. I usually order the Four Cheese, which I did yesterday. When it came out, there was tomato sauce all over it and very little "Four Cheese" or pesto. We ate it anyway, but I thought I'd give them another chance and ordered a small to-go. When I got home, at least the tomato sauce was missing, but instead of "Four Cheese", it was maybe cheeseandahalf at the most. It was burnt as well. This restaurant may have an Uno's franchise, but nobody taught them how to make a genuine Uno's pizza. Very...
Read moreI'm only giving the experience an extra star for the ambiance. We frequent different Unos in both Michigan and Florida, it's one of our favorite chains, so if you're expecting an experience like a regular Unos, feel free to avoid it. First, it's in a hotel, and we didn't realize that, because my son had just said he wanted to stop at an Unos on our way from the airport, and this was the closest on our route. He wanted the shrimp and crab dip, which was not on offering here. We decided on pasta, and the menu says the pastas come with a salad, which I had to mention to our server, since she didn't ask which type we wanted. I specifically mentioned no tomatoes or cucumbers on my salad, and told her which dressing. It came out with a different dressing, and with the tomatoes on it. When I mentioned it to her, she took the salad to the back. She came back with the same salad with the tomatoes taken off. I know because there were tomato seeds all over it, which wouldn't have bothered me so much, except she had nails almost 2 inches long... So who took the tomatoes off? Was it her? Did a cook do it? I've worked in restaurants for 20 years, and every one I've worked, we always just make a fresh item. After that, I couldn't get the idea of who stuck their fingers in it out of my head, and I lost my appetite, because in reality, her nails were too long to be working in the food industry to begin with. I never leave less than 20%, but she literally just took our order with very little follow up, and I felt like this was not real restaurant service. Maybe another server would have made the experience better, but the menu prices were a little higher than the normal Unos we go to, and the quality was actually very lackluster, or maybe I was disgusted from the beginning. I guess we won't know, but I definitely will not be going back to...
