NYC Halal Eats — Restaurant in Farmington Hills

Heartbreaking because I truly enjoy the food here, which is why I always come back. But this time was different. I ordered my food for pick up and figured I'd leave out right away. I got there about 5 minutes before the time said my pickup was ready but that's fine. I pulled a chair and sat inside the restaurant and waited for the doordash app to notify me. Shortly after, I was notified my food had been prepared so I go to the front desk and give them my name. The man at the counter told me it'll be 5 more minutes because he's finishing it up and I say "That's cool" and I go wait for about 7-8 minutes.( mind you he never started). After the time passes I go back to the counter and give my name once more, he says 5 more minutes. By this time I'm confused because there are plenty of customers being helped now and going back to their cars with their food they ordered clearly after me. But, I waited 5 more minutes to be nice because I don't want any unnecessary confusion. I go back to the front desk and give my name the very last time (and I mean VERY last time because I'm never going back) and he told me he still needed 5 more minutes to finish my food. I politely told them "It's fine. I'll just cancel my order, have a nice day" and left. Only because I watched maybe over 10-15 Indian customers get served and sent on their merry way. Which leads me to believe that maybe me as the "Black man" shouldn't have come into the restaurant so early because then he wouldn't of known I was Black and would've actually made my food along with all the other Indian customers and one White customer. I really hate to feel that way but after what I was looking at in that restaurant I can't feel...

Update 6/24: Lamb platter was delicious!!! I paid $3 extra for extra lamb but it seemed like I got the same portion of chicken my husband got in his reg. Chicken platter- I got with extra rice instead of the fries - The rice is my favorite 💜 So flavorful- The guy running the front is working hard, so tip him!!! Taking orders, fixing platters, cashing out…Very nice considering how busy he is- ———————————————————————————- Nice service- friendly- One guy running the show up front so a little slow in taking orders as he was also preparing food items-

Food: this is a version of Adels Halal and Halal Guys of NYC- ( Adel’s being the best)😁 I had the platter combo- Delicious- so flavorful- there was a larger portion of chicken than lamb- I wish they gave a full platter vs a 1/2 and then a serving of fries included in the container for $12.99- So for portion… eh for the $$-

The chicken was seasoned very nicely as was the rice- Meat is finely chopped-They are light handed on the sauce- I would ask for them to add extra next time as the flavor the sauce was washed out by all the other seasonings-The red sauce ( which I asked for) is HOT👍🏻 Use sparingly- The fries were tasty with a bit of curry salt seasoning but I’m not really a fries fan…

My brother and I were craving the shrimp and lamb platter from this gem of a place. Food was amazing. Place was amazing. However, I will not be returning to this eatery as of yesterday. We arrived at 9 p.m on 11-25-24 to order our food. The total came to exactly 28.62. The change was supposed to be 11.38. I handed "Naeem," our order taker, two(2) twenty-dollar bills. Naeem then handed me back a 1.38. Confused, and hungry, we decided to sit down with no rexipr as the place was not busy but quite steady. We waited approximately 40 minutes for our food. Upon receiving our food, i then confront her about the change as we didn't receive a receipt. I then say I'm confused about the change you have given me and it's concerning. I said the total was 28.62 and you gave me 1.38 back. (1 Dollar bill, 1 quarter, 1 dime, 3 pennies) It was supposed to be 11.38. Where's the 10 dollars at!?? She decided to apologize with a Cheshire grin and proceeds to open up the till and the 10 dollar bill that is owed to me is placed conviently on top. She knew the change she owed me without question.
