I went inside to have dinner with my sister and a friend. The waitress came over. She was very nice but you could tell she was new and nobody was helping her. So because of that she made a couple mistakes. But what do you expect? She was new and then they brought over the food. The food was not very good and when they brought my fish over it was very soggy and it had hair hanging from the plate and hair in the food. So I told them that I would not pay for it because they try to charge me and then they wanted to charge me for fried potatoes because they said fried potatoes don't come with the fish only fries but the new waitress didn't know that and then my friend got it a Caesar salad and I guess that was extra and she didn't tell us that once again because she was new. So the other waitresses were very very nasty to her and very rude and they try to charge me for the whole fish dinner when they shouldn't have because it had hair in my food and like I said the food was not that good. I wound up giving the young lady my phone number because I could tell she needed some help and after we left she text me and told me that they fired her because they said she cost them $40 in food. This young lady did not have nowhere to live. She was living in a motel with her mom and her boyfriend barely had any money to survive later on. She text me and told me she did not have no food and they were getting kicked out in the motel but her cousin decided to pay for night for them. Thank God and I wound up going to meijer's at 10:00 at night and buying this young lady, her mom and her boyfriend. Some food. How dear those people at the restaurant fire her. She was never ready to be out there on her own and they did not even help her to learn the job. They were very very rude. I will never go back there again and I suggest you don't give them any of your business especially when they can do that to that young lady when she and have nothing besides calls on her back and she depended on that job to pay for her room and pay for her food and she does not have no car and she doesn't have anybody. She just...
Read moreIn a pinch, sure. CAUTION! If you like thick slices of meat on your sandwiches, then grab one here. Otherwise, nope. The same with the fat hash browns. They're definitely not shoestring hash browns, more like massive boot strings. I get cutting back on some things to save a little time here and there, but these things are very basic and not as well liked as thinly sliced deli meats or small grated potatoes so you're not eating French fries done on a griddle alongside the Brontosaurus steak cuts of meat to go onto your sandwich or whatever else those ingredients go into. I had one bite of the "Monte Cristo" sandwich and was done. Luckily, I put in a takeout order of biscuits and gravy. I asked both of the ladies if this was how the meat and potatoes were done all the time, and the answer was yeah 🫤. When you're an experienced server, you know when something is wrong. Yet, neither of them even thought twice about asking if there was anything they could do, me asking obvious questions, and then literally saying that I can't eat that like that, but still have to pay for something definitely sub-par. How much does someone need to point this out. I'm in there...
Read moreI had breakfast here many years ago and it was very pleasant experience at the time. However, since then, it is sad to see how much this restaurant has been allowed to decay.
During our recent visit, upon entering, we were greeted with an unidentifiable, but markedly unpleasant odor. The tables are so old that the finish on them has worn through. The parking lot (not unlike many post-COVID Michigan businesses) has been left to “go to seed” as has the overall state of the entire property inside and out. The fact that there were almost no other customers was a red flag that we ignored at the time.
The food was unremarkable, but would have probably tasted better if it were not for the persistent, un-ignorable odor described above.
The staff were attentive and friendly and couldn’t have been better. Pricing was also very reasonable. However that could not make up for the negatives of the overall environment.
In my experience, L. George’s is a terrific chain and I’ve had great eating experience at their other locations. Somehow, their chain’s otherwise high quality standard seems to be ignored here.
Hopefully that...
