In all my years of coming to this restaurant I have never had such a bad experience as I did today. Let me paint you a picture. We walked in the door and not one person greeted us even though there are probably 5 people behind the desk. Finally we pushed forward and asked for dine in and they point to a table. We ordered our food and they took some time to bring out our food. In that time I was able to look around and notice a lot of things were off. No music is playing, the workers are all talking so loudly and joking around not paying us any attention. When we look at them they ignore us or act like we are inconveniencing them. I then saw that the workers were wearing sandals and half of them weren't wearing masks. They were approaching us and our tables without masks. I have the pictures attached as proof. Then the food was finally brought to us. It was so bad. For a restaurant called kurrys you'd think they would have the best curry. But no the curry was heavy, full of oil, and had lack of spice and salt. The biryani was so bland. Even the mango lassi didn't taste of mango. As we were eating more people came in. Instead of telling those people they needed to wait because of social distancing they sat everyone next to one another. You wouldn't have believed we are in a pandemic! Finally we wanted out bill and the man who served us ignored us. Finally we got his attention and he barked at us "what do you want?" I can handle bad service if the food is at least good and vice versa but when neither are good then it's not worth my time. I drove an hour and a half for this? Attached you can see how everyone was seated next to each other with no spaces in between tables just to make a quick buck and you will see in the other one of the workers not wearing a mask. At least 5 of the workers were not wearing masks at all. As someone who works in the food industry I can say if the health inspector came they would fail. There are cob webs just above my head....
Read moreThis place has been our go to place for takeouts. We have been seeing this restaurant board while driving past on the main road and always wondered who would open a restaurant which is not facing the street and is located behind a pub. But one day we took a chance and decided to try it out. The staff told us that you should try out a new biryani they are planning to add to the menu Vijaywada Gongur Paneer Biryani. We are vegetarians and we said let us try. The staff member also recommended that we try water chestnut pepper fry. We were bold by these 2 dishes and we had then recommended the same to all our friends. Next couple months we were eating this to items in all the parties we attended.
So, this has been our regular takeout place where we would order the above 2 and then Mughalai Panner Biryani and Veg Chettinad made it to the list of other favorites. Methi chaman is another gem from this place.
Recently, it was late one evening and instead of take out we decided to dine in. My wife saw a dish we had never tried. We tried Nilgiri Veg with Naan and rice. It was so delicious. It has right balance of spices. flavor and the green chillies and cilantro, mint taste and was a out of the park hit. Too good.
This is one of the best places in Michigan for the consistent quality of food for last 4-5 yrs and more. We Michigan people are pampered with such wonderful restaurant which we cannot find in lot of cities in US. Highly recommended.
P.S: Lot of restaurants have tried to add Vijaywada Gongur Paneer Biryani and also the non-veg variety but have failed. None can...
Read moreI have never dined at the restaurant as the atmosphere is not that pleasing to sit down and enjoy a good meal.
However, Kurry's used to be my go to place for authentic Indian food takeout made to your liking until recently. Last 4 times I ordered, I arrived at for pick up around 35-40 minutes after placing my order based on the time they told me and each time I had to wait another 10-20 minutes before I got my food. This has become the new norm at this place.
Also, the quality of food has been getting progressively worse each time I have taken out from there. The flavors that I once relished are but a distant memory. Today, I had a bite and could not make myself finish the entree even though I was pretty hungry. I got a pepperoni pizza and called it a day.
They are super busy and and over time have compromised on the quality of their food. Catering orders are possibly an exception as I have seen them put more of a focus on catering orders while you wait for extended periods of time for your take out.
But for those that still enjoy their downgraded quality and flavors, you can make your take out experience more memorable by making sure you arrive at the restaurant at least 1 hour after placing your order regardless of the time communicated by the person taking your...
