I was there for Motor City Comic Con this past weekend (Thursday, 05/18/2017 - Sunday, 05/21/2017). Three days at this hotel was a bit much. I guess the saying is true though for this hotel - you get what you pay for. It was the cheapest hotel in the area for Motor City Comic Con but now I understand why. It was just ok. I wouldn't recommend it for 2+ more nights. We weren't even in the room much other than for sleep and shower. When we checked in, we noticed our room wasn't exactly clean. There was a used hand towel and bar of soap still on our sink. A few hairs in the bathroom. But I realized, it wasn't just that day that the housekeeers suck. it was every day. They did a hit or miss. One day, change our towels, the other day, not do our beds, etc. They were by far one of the worst housekeepers I've had in a long time. You do the exact same job day by day in every damn hotel room. Its not that hard. Then there was the sad toilet that wouldn't even flush. The bathrooms were clearly not made for average sized Americans. The beds were super hard. Everything in the room (including the tv and sink) were all to the left. There are no coffee makers in the room. It was a nice feature for the microwave & fridge though. Shady internet that barely worked all weekend. 12 whole tv channels (with 4 of them being ESPN). And what was worse was the stadium light that was pointing at our window all night. I didn't get any sleep at all. The only plus side is, I didn't hear our neighbors upstairs or on either side of us all night. The one thing that did bother me, car alarms in the morning. I didn't get the spot in front of my door at all all weekend. It really bugged me on that aspect that other people were parking there. No extra perks either like free breakfast. I just know in the future, I will not be booking Red Roof Inns...
Read moreI stayed in this hotel the week of March 5-7th, 2013. Check-in was pretty quick. I went to my room and had alot of work to do for a presentation the next day. Around 2:00am I was ready to go to bed and pulled the covers down to find 15-20 long black hairs on the sheets. I had a double bed room and although very disgusted, I was tired and didnt want to move in the middle of the night so opted to try the other bed. Yes you guessed it, the other bed was as bad or worse with long balck hairs in the sheets and stains on the sheets. I had to get dressed and go to the front desk. I had to talk to the front desk operator through the 2" thick glass plate. She moved me to another room without much question. This room was a queen bed and "appeared" to be clean. I went to bed. I got up the next morning and turned on the TV to watch local news while getting dressed. Of course the TV did not work. After getting dressed, I again went to front desk and complained about the TV. They said no one has ever complained about the TV. I left for my meeting and upon returning, there was a different TV in the room that did work in some fashion. I do not know if they just do not subscribe to the "normal" hotel type programming but you could not order or watch any of the movie channels or premier programming. Upon check out NO discount was offered until I received the bill and complained that I was not going to pay full price. The only discount the hotal was willing to give was $20 total off the bill for having hair in both beds of the first room, having to move rooms at 2am in the morning, then no working TV in the second room. This place is disgusting and I will never stay here again. For the record, this was my second time staying at this location, mainly b/c of the convenience of how close it is to my...
Read moreA review huh? Let’s get it. The new DM doesn’t like homeless people so don’t let her find out you pay weekly, she’ll come up with a reason to kick you out and take your money aka $378 ( don’t let the signs fool you ) weekly.
TLDR; they kicked us out. Blamed us for their tvs not working, blamed us about room service, took our money and refuse to give us their name and a working corporate number.
My roommate and I fell on hard times and the economic change forced us to live in Farmington Hills Red Roof on Sinacola. We lived there for a year, abided by all the rules - smoked outside, cleaned, gave sheets and towels back except the ones that room service never took, we minded our business. We even had a good relationship with the women downstairs. Again we lived there from March 2023 to March 2024, literally a year.
I get a call one day while at work that we were being kicked out because of some tvs not working downstairs and that my roommate wouldn’t let them in. One. She let them in. Two. The only reason they had to wait was cause she had to get dressed. The DM said she refused to open the door. Then said that our room smelled like a dead body, when we had cleaned the night before as we always had. We have company helping us move and not a single soul smelled whatever she smelled. She refused to give me her name, refused to give any recommendations and hung up on me. I still have not gotten a prorated refund for the week that I paid for ( $378 I paid for a room ). I called several times and have been met with no answer so here’s my peace with this place and I hope you guys choose...
