The Dearborn location of Dearborn Music is usually my preferred place to look at records, but only mainly because itâs closer to me and they have large selection of used records. However I traveled a little farther to this location in Farmington for a listening party they hosted. I knew Iâd have a good time no matter what because I was excited to hear the album for the first time, but it ended up being an awesome memorable experience and the staff definitely contributed to it. At the end, I bought a pack of protective sleeves for my records at home and the cashier was very kind. I also preordered the exclusive record store CD on the website, and the staff sent me an honest email stating that they made a mistake listing the price online, and would credit me the extra amount they charged me (which they did in a very timely manner). Shipping was also fast. With the hour I spent in the store looking around and chilling, and their customer service online and in person, I have no complaints and will definitely be back to this store next time Iâm in the area. You can tell the people who work here have a great appreciation for music and want their customers to have a good experience finding theyâre...
Read moreI wish my husband and I had the same experience most people seem to have here.
About a month ago we came in with a few records in mind and it was our first time visiting. We were excited because we normally drive out to Detroit to buy records and this store is local and about 3 minutes from our house. We walked in and noticed a decent selection. Yay!
As we were browsing for what we were looking for, my husband found a record that wasnât on our list but one that he has been wanting. He was looking it over as he was reading the song list a worker comes up to him and quite literally snatches it right of my husbandâs hands and said someone online ordered this. He then just walked away with the record.
I honestly was in shock and so was my husband. I wanted to leave immediately because I thought that was very rude. My husband still ended up purchasing a record on his list. We left and will never come back.
Youâd think a customer who took the time to come into the store to purchase a record would take precedence over an online buyer....
Read more10/13/22 - This place opened after I moved away from Farmington Hills so I never got to really check it out. I imagined it was similar to infamous Hot Topic or Spencer's Gifts with better lightning & space. When I finally visited, I hit the nail on the head.
They have a decent selection of CDs & vinyls; some band shirts & posters line the walls. Tons of pop culture toys, games & do-dads all over the store. The real treat is near the entrance, there's a rack of generic household items like oven mitts, socks with old comic prints... but with fantastic adult humor themes. We had to nab a set while we were here.
The prices were good, but the staff was quite anti-social, as they stood behind the registers. Not that I minded, just a plesant surprise compared to the other pop culture stores that interact with you every 5 minutes to make sure you're not thrifting. I am not sure if they buy or trade CDs & vinyls, but it would be great for retro collectors that still walk among us...
