We love First Watch. We moved from the Midwest, and this was our go-to for weekend brunch 100% of the time. We had not been to one here yet due to the closest location (Lovell Road) being about 50 minutes from our home. Well, we had a friend in town visiting us this weekend who wanted to go to First Watch for brunch as we had so many times together before we moved. So, we made the nearly hour drive to this location. They were busy, which was not surprising. We had gotten in line on their website. We were seated promptly (which was why I gave this location 1 star and not 0). Our waitress was a relatively petite woman with dyed blonde hair. She was immediately short, rude, and pushy. She made no effort whatsoever to hide how disgusted she was with our presence there. She took our drink order and immediately wanted us to order our food. We asked to please get our coffee first and then we would order. She was annoyed. I asked for Half and Half from the refrigerator instead of the packaged half and half. She was annoyed. She brought us coffee. We ordered. I asked for no cooking oil (a request that is suggested on their website for a healthier option), she was annoyed. We ran out of coffee and since she never bothered to inquire if we would like a new pot, asked for more, she was annoyed. She brought our meals and the substituted dressed greens for toast consisted of 4 dry lettuce leaves in a small silver cup...(I know there were only 4 because in my disbelief I counted them). I asked her if this was normal and she was again annoyed and said "When you want it instead of bread that's how we do it." My husband asked for a side of berry compote. She was annoyed. The vegetables in our omelets were burnt, completely charred and unrecognizable, and as a result not flavorful, but we made no comment. By the end of the meal, asking for boxes for our food nearly sent her over the edge, and she huffed and puffed and shook her head and threw her arms up in the air. The display was so over the top I finally asked her "I'm sorry, are we bothering you??" To which she responded, "I HAVE A LOT GOING ON RIGHT NOW." We promptly paid and left. Needless to say we will not be returning to this location, and in fact I doubt we will make the nearly 1 hour drive to any of the First Watch locations in Knoxville after this experience, although I realize this location may just be poorly managed, or our waitress's nasty attitude may have been an outlier...(I hope this is the case); but it was enough of a bad experience that I do not want to go the distance to visit this restaurant any longer. I strongly suggest you seek out one of the other locations if you want to visit this restaurant. It is unfortunate since this was such go-to for us in our prior home, but after this encounter, when our midwestern friends come to visit, we will eat our...
Read moreWATCH THE PRICES AND YOUR RECEIPT!!!!! First complaint, the toddler’s pancake was the last thing to be brought, after asking where it was. 4 adults received food before the child. NOT ok! Our holiday iced coffee came as a mix of both the holiday iced coffees and our waitress argued it was correct, took the coffees that were made wrong, and brought the right thing still insisting the first was correct. Nope! Our honey salted caramel is not mint!!! lol The food was really good which is the only reason they got any ⭐️ and they don’t skimp on anything, except my runny whites coming out of my over-medium eggs was quite unpleasant. It definitely appeared several employees were on drugs of some sort based on their actions, whether prescription or not, it was obvious. They do not give a military discount, fyi. And last complaint but most important, check your receipt for prices!!! We got the 100% maple syrup, which on the menu was $1.59 extra for a 3oz bottle, on top of the $13 meal. We were ok with that because we don’t like the maple flavored sugar water, but when I looked at the receipt, they charged $1.99 for each of the 3 bottles we received. I get it was only a $1.20, but that’s not the point. I questioned it when checking out and was told that was because they were changing the menus and hadn’t gotten them all out with the old prices. That’s fine but you give the customer what they saw as the price. She did not! Just said, that takes time”. I guess she thinks we are stupid and never worked in restaurants before. No maam! You correct the price for the customer and apologize for the confusion. You remove ALL old menus when new arrive! I didn’t even check the rest of the prices because she clearly wasn’t fixing it. I’m sure there was more raised prices on there. Instead, we just wont ever go back to a business you can’t trust to not be overcharging from THEIR menu prices, and as always, I will leave reviews for others to be able to watch their check, IF they choose to go to the establishment. I don’t usually do Google reviews, but this time, I’ll do Google and Yelp! We will NOT go back to this location for sure, if we decide to go to a First Watch in the future at all. Like I said, food was good for the most part but the experience and...
Read moreI had a severe allergic reaction due to the negligence of First Watch's kitchen staff today.
I met a friend at First Watch this morning and ordered the chikichanga. I requested that the chorizo was left out, explaining that I am very allergic due to having alpha-gal syndrome, which makes me allergic to mammal meat. She understood, wrote it down, and told me that the kitchen staff would be made aware of this and even put more chicken in instead.
The chikichanga came out and looked lovely, it even had a little wooden stick in it that said allergy on it. It looked delicious and I saw no reason to pull it apart and check it for chorizo since it clearly had the aforementioned little allergy stick coming out of the tortilla.
After a few bites I realized that there was still chorizo in it. I stopped eating immediately, showed the waitress it was there, and left to go get allergy medication. I'm currently having a full on allergic reaction, covered in hives and itching due to the lack of care on the kitchen staff's part. Fortunately, I don't think I'll have to use my EpiPen today but my day is completely ruined due to kitchen staff leaving in sausage when I had asked for it's removal. This kind of mess up can kill someone, and in my case has completely ruined my day due to an allergic reaction.
To their credit the waitress was extremely apologetic and I don't believe any of it was her fault as she seemed to have communicated the chorizo removal to the kitchen staff. She comped the meal I could not eat and my friend's meal, and offered to have something else made for me. I declined as I needed to go get allergy medication.
Long story short, their kitchen staff did not follow a simple allergy request and has caused me to be very ill. I would be extremely cautious going there if you need any allergy...
