Read moreWe were excited to try a place we haven't been too before around Fayetteville and this was new for us. The staff was friendly but you could hear a woman in the back (assuming a manager or owner) in the kitchen yelling at her employees(if she wasn't yelling, she was very loud). I heard her make a comment about what I ordered to one of the other staff, complaining that I got over easy eggs instead of just sunny side up. Then, we get our order and it was made wrong. I let the girl know it was made with items I asked to be removed but I explained I'd still eat it. I asked if salsa was free or if I had to pay for it, then she went to see if they had any first. She comes back with a side cup of salsa and said I had to pay 55 cents for it. I didn't want to be rude because she already brought it, so my husband gave her the dollar. We had to ask for our son's apple sauce that was supposed to come with his kids meal. The worst for me was my fruit waffle. It said to pick a fruit to have on top so I chose Strawberries. The menu didn't specify if it were compote or fresh, so I assumed fresh but I understood if I got compote, that was okay too. Well, they were thawed out frozen Strawberries that were turning brown and mushy (in photo, which doesn't do it justice) I couldn't eat it,I thought I could just eat the waffle but it was tough. Same with my husbands pancakes, too tough, and they gave him one 2 tbs serving to-go packet of syrup for his 3 pancakes and one little butter. We litterally ended up throwing away over half our food. Normally, I understand that places charge you for cheese on your eggs, side salsa, and milk substitutes in your lattes, etc., but what got me was that everything all together cost us $45 before military discount, (but of course we tipped so it was still over $45) and it was all served on paper plates and with plastic forks. Like, it's not a fine dining restaurant, It's a cafe beside a foodlion, but they expect you to pay as if you're at ihop or something. I'm not trying to be rude about it, but it was a terrible experience. The coffee was good and my potatoes, but we basically threw most of it in the trash. Highly disappointed. Also, they have waaaaaay too many food options on their menu, it's overwhelming. Nor do they have the prices on the...
Read moreIt is hard to find authentic Greek food in Fayetteville, and FINALLY, I have found a go-to spot! Cafe Opa is a small little restaurant with a fantastic menu selection of coffee drinks, Greek food, breakfast food, and pastries. We tried the pistachio which was authentic and excellent. It was served with Greek green beans and a fresh Greek salad. We ordered a side of the spicy meatballs. They have the true spice seasonings of Greek meatballs so if that is something you do not like, this may turn you off, but we loved them. They were meaty, flavorful, and moist with a tasty red sauce topping. My husband ordered the breakfast ham, bacon, and cheese pita… and WOW! It was wicked good. The bacon and ham were cooked crispy and went perfect with the melted cheese and pita. We finished with some of the handmade pastries and we weren’t disappointed. We can’t wait to go back. Be advised. The service is a little on the slow side. It is a small staffed restaurant serving fresh, made to order food. This isn’t a place to go in a hurry, but is worth the wait if you like Greek, made from scratch food. Also, they haven’t updated their hours online, so you may want to confirm what days they are open with...
