Puritan Coffee & Beer — Restaurant in Fayetteville

James Holden recommended this spot to me as a way to “loosen up and socialize” (whatever that means) after long months on the float in the Roci. I know how serious Cap’n is about his coffee, so I knew the drinks were gonna be respectable too. I spend so much time in the deep, dark corners of a corvette class battle frigate under high G hard burn that I need some company and conversation when I go to port. Puritan is a badass spot for that. You can find all kinds of folks in there too, from Earthers and Dusters, to the Belters from way out from Ceres Station, but we all get along, ya know? Aaaanyways, I grew up in the streets of Baltimore and made my way through life drinking burnt black with grounds in it in the belly of engineering bays for decades, so I’ve earned the occasional frilly coffee with polite folks with clean hands who haven’t seen half of what I’ve seen in the deep black of the sol system. Puritan is by far one of the best places in Fayetteville. I’ve met some of my best friends there… I even met my wife at Puritan! The staff is super helpful and informative. Kevin, the owner, is one of the nicest individuals you could meet. You just walk up, tell them what you like, and viola! it’s there for your enjoyment moments later. My love for craft coffee has been nurtured, and their craft beer selection is exceptional. There’s no better place to be at on Dickson st. Be sure to go to a trivia night as their host, Luke, spends a lot of time researching each topic to create a challenging and rewarding experience. Beautiful renovations-so well done! Floor to ceiling windows are refreshing and provide a beautiful view. Puritan is my by far the best coffee shop / cafe in Fayetteville. The food (especially the veggie breakfast burrito and the banana bread is SO delicious!). I was pleasantly surprised they started making their own food—a wonderful improvement. The trivia nights are a really fun atmosphere (but bring earplugs bc music is extremely loud).

Absolutely recommend this spot! The earlier you go, the better seating you can get. Pretty packed with college students throughout the day and can be hard to find a place to sit.

Critiques are: certainly need a nicer/newer/cleaner microwave and the ability to warm food for customer (instead of customer doing it themselves.) And offering some yummy speciality syrups like lavender, etc., that both Onyx/ Pink House Alchemy have locally. Offering croissants would be...
