I travel 100% for work. Always staying in hotels. I have stayed in hotels all over the world. My main conclusion of this hotel is that you are paying a premium price for the marketing and decor.
The bath products are Maelin and Goetz, which is a nice little luxury, it's quality stuff.
The in room iron is a cheap sunbeam that spits water rather than steams. The ironing board is a tiny table top, so it's unnecessarily difficult to iron your shirt decently.
The bed is ridiculously comfortable, as are the pillows. The room gets nice and dark, so you sleep well.
The blackout curtains are proper blackout curtains. The room gets nice and dark at night with the curtains closed. Minimal light comes through the curtains.
The sheets are nice. The airbnb I stayed in the other night had nicer sheets, though.
The art and decor are truly unique and fun. It's all part of the experience. The rooms have fun lamps, furniture, etc all themed like a 60s college. There is a lot of nostalgia in this hotel. They have yearbooks as far back as the 30s from the University of Arkansas.
The front desk staff are nice and friendly.
The restaurant menu is limited and overpriced. Most hotel restaurant food is a slight step up from hospital food anyway. They have fun delicious sounding cocktails for $14USD each.
The location is great.
WiFi is good.
The view from your room is great.
The in room coffee is instant and tastes like Nescafe, which is not bad but I'd expect real coffee in a $200+USD/Night room.
The pool is small but nice.
The gym is nice, most hotel gyms are sh*t but this gym has a decent assortment of dumbbells, cable machine, 2 benches, mats, and medicine balls and a fairly large room for the gym. I have to note the best hotel gym I've encountered so far in the Southern USA is at The Inn at the Ole Miss in Oxford MS. This Graduate Hotel's gym is a closed 2nd to the Inn at the Ole Miss.
Oh and you have to pay for parking. I understand that's the norm with a lot of downtown hotels. Parking is about $30USd for valet, 15USD for unlimited come and go self park, or $4USD everytime you go into the garage. So if you are checking in late, not leaving to go anywhere else, and leaving in the morning, pay just the $4.
Most importantly, it's clean! The way a hotel should be.
Water pressure sucks, the tap comes out like a gentle stream, and the shower is a gentle waterfall. I personally like more pressure, but to be fair, most hotel water pressure disappoints me.
It's quiet. I can get a good night's sleep here. I did hear the suite above me or beside me peeing and showering in the morning.
Overall, it's a fun hotel for the novelty, but I've stayed at better hotels. Anyway, my conclusion is for a hotel that's over $200 USD /night. I'd expect a better iron, a real ironing board, and real coffee.
I would stay again because it's certainly better than your mass...
Read moreAt first i thought this was going to be a great hotel all the reviews go on and on about this place but if you notice they don’t ever mention the staff. i requested an early check in a week before my visit and was told it would be no problem at all that i just needed to call the day of my reservation and tell them again and it would cost 30$. i have no problem paying what ever fees that come along with and early check in. i call the day of my reservation and I am told that it’s no problem at all that will I just please give them a call back at 1 o’clock to make sure that they can get the room clean by the time I get there. remind you early check in is at 1 but i’m not supposed to arrive till 2-3pm so it seems perfect. i arrive and no such accommodations have been arranged, even though I have made three separate phone calls and was promised each time. the original front desk lady said she was calling to see if they could clean it then disappeared and never came back. had to find a manager to see about a check in. which didn’t happen till an until hour later at 4pm the original check in time when early check in is at 1pm . okay what ever i can get over that. we call down for extra blankets twice in three hours and it never gets brought we had to go to the desk where the night shift lady was rude and said “well i’ll check but i doubt we have any” but managed to find a blanket with stains on it. we take the blanket up stairs then come back down to see about the food options where we were passed by the rudest server i have ever met. we asked what the regulations for dining was and she rudely said as running she was running off that we order at the bar and she doesn’t do table service. but she was serving tables and couldn’t spare two actual seconds to answer a question for a guest in the hotel but was chatting it up with with the bartender. we didn’t speak to the bartender so i don’t have an opinion about that after horrible front desk workers and rude servers we doordashed food and i will never be returning. i’m so disappointed. it was 1000$ a night room and i felt like i was at a days in paying 60$ a night . actually they might be nicer/ kinder at a days in. the only good thing about the stay was the valet service attends. they were kind and super speedy. I recommend parking here but not eating or...
Read moreMAKE SURE TO LOOK AT YOUR FINAL BILL BREAKDOWN AND THEN AT YOUR CC STATEMENT. I HAD THE TOTAL ALMOST $500 CHARGED AND THEN HAD 2 MORE RANDOM CHARGES, ONE FOR OVER $100 AND ANOTHER FOR $29.04 PENDING AFTER THAT. THE 100 DROPPED BUT THE OTHER IS STILL PENDING. NO ONE CAN FIGURE IT OUT AND I AM WAITING FOR A CALL BACK FROM ACCOUNTING. REALLY A HASSLE AS I HAVE CALLED TWICE AND IS A WEEK LATER. THE ONLY 2 CC MISTAKES ON MY ENTIRE 2 MONTH TRIP FROM FLORIDA TO WYOMING WERE BOTH IN FAYETTEVILLE ON THE SAME DAY DIFFERENT PLACES. GOOD HELP IS HARD TO FIND. I THINK THAT SOMEONE CHARGED TO MY ROOM OR THEY MADE A MISTAKE LIKE WHEN THEY SPELLED MY LAST NAME WITH A PH AND I GOT THERE AND THEY COULDN’T FIND MY RESERVATION AT FIRST.
Place is very cool like hipster heaven cool, like a 60s football player dorm room right in the middle of a downtown hotel. My only complaints are the parking situation and the one woke picture that does not match the decor of the room at all. I mean why would you put a pic of a fat tattooed lady in leopard print in a room full of dorm room things from the 60s unless you were trying to propagandize your guest in a way?
The problem was it was nailed to the wall so I could not take it down for my stay. And I had to look at this supposed sensual fat lady for like a whole day as I watched tv. It started freaking me out so I put a napkin over her face and I am a chunky lady so not judging her size just you should know your audience better maybe.
It would have been cool to have some more razorback sports thing nailed right there instead. It just ruined the whole room vibe especially since all the other pics were straight out of 1960.
That pic would have been so appropriate in the starving artist’s-dorm room if you have one. One can only assume that your hotel has an agenda I guess. I mean this sudden change in decor can’t be a mistake right in my side eye view the whole time. I can only imagine what your alpha-male football game day guests think of this pic, it makes me laugh that maybe they kept taking it off the wall so you had to nail it there to teach those cis gender males a lesson...
