The only reason I gave this place even 2 stars is bcuz I enjoyed the atmosphere. I went with my daughter and husband. The hostess, was busy with whatever she was doing behind the counter before she even realized we had been standing there for a good minute. I asked to be seated inside. She took us outside. It took over 15 minutes for someone to come to our table. It wasn't until i had to get up to go ask someone to come help us before she got to our table. Put our drink orders in and an order of fried pickles. Another 10 to 15 minutes go by before our drinks come back. We never got our fried pickles. The waitress then came back and seemed confused and asked us if we ever got our appetizer. We put our meal order in and I'm not kidding, 45 minutes go by before we got it. By this time we were about to walk out when a server came and gave our food to the people behind us. My husband had to get up and get our food from her. My chicken fried steak was burnt and not good at all. My daughter wouldn't eat her grilled cheese, bcuz you know by this time any 2 year old Is pissed at this point of having to wait THAT LONG for food. Okra was good. My potatoes were good. Tea was good. That's it. I won't ever be going back. What a terrible experience. Honestly my opinion of this place is that all the girls that are hired are meant to wear hooteresque apparel which is why I think this place was as busy as it was. But it seemed like every person there was the biggest airhead I've ever witnessed. I can only assume these girls go to the college down the rd, which good for them. But they need so much training it's ridiculous. Please do better and make some changes.

EDIT - ALSO this was more than 2 weeks ago, so I highly doubt being down a manager this past weekend had anything to do with not getting our food for 45 minutes and being basically ignored...

As a visitor from New York City, I was anxious to get some good classic southern BBQ. Unfortunately, I didn't get that experience here.

First, the good: Sassy's has a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The pulled pork was VERY tender and melted in your mouth. Unfortunately - that's about all the good I experienced on this visit.

Now, the bad: The meat was lukewarm at best, and some parts of the portion were downright cool. The "Fresh cut" french fries were VERY hard and chewy, and tasted as if they were yesterday's fries that had been heated in the microwave, or left under a heat lamp for a LONG time. Finally, the macaroni and cheese was downright terrible. I am not sure if it is supposed to be "Smoked" mac and cheese, but it had a horrible burned wood flavor throughout. One of my dinner partners who lives locally and frequents Sassy's said that 'no, it is not supposed to be 'smoked' and something is definitely wrong with it.' It almost tasted as if a chunk of burned wood from the smoker fell into the mac-and-cheese pot and was just stirred in. It was bad, and I could only eat a few bites and had to leave the rest on the plate.

The most confusing part, was that Sassy's was VERY busy when we came in, and the food did not take long to come after we ordered.. so they HAD to have been doing a ton of volume. So how we ended up with cold meat, yesterday-tasting french fries and seriously fouled mac and cheese- is beyond me. I would have been able to rationalize it better if they were dead, and not turning over much food volume.

Overall, I was seriously...

Update: Aug 2019

Had a recent dinner here that was very disappointing for my wife and I due to poor service throughout the dining experience. While we got seated immediately, it seemed like they forgot about us for more than 10 minutes until someone pointed us out and got our drink and food orders. We then didn't have anyone check back with us for another 30 minutes. It was took long enough that I checked my gps timeline to see when we arrived and it had been 45 minutes since the time it showed we got to the restaurant. We were about to pay for our drinks and leave when they brought out our food. They checked back once after a couple minutes, then didn't check up on us again until the server brought the check by at the end of the meal and left. I had to flag down another server so we could pay and leave. We were both surprised at the poor service as usually this place had been great, but if this is the new standard we may quit coming. Taking the rating from 5/5 to 3/5 as this is the first time we've had an issue, but if this is the new norm I would rate it more around 1/5.

Original Review:

This is currently my go to BBQ place. Not the easiest place to get in and out of, the entrance is on a side road which connects to the main road in the middle of a curve and the parking lot has a curb that could be leveled. Despite that, the food is great and in good weather the raised porch is very nice to relax on. The sweet tea is good, and I suggest trying the BBQ Philly which has brisket, onions, and bell peppers all covered in cheese and can come with seasoned...

Look... I consider myself something of a BBQ aficionado (and someone who seeks-out the best BBQ joints whenever possible; especially when traveling to regions that are famous for it)... and let me tell you, Sassy's Red House is some of the BEST BBQ I have EVER had! My family and I tried it for the first time the other day, and some of the highlights for me? The brisket was MOUTH-WATERING and butter-tender (I couldn't even bring myself to put any sauce on it, it was so delicious!)... the jalapeno sausage was absolutely amazing as well... the pulled pork was tender and excellent... the mac n' cheese and baked beans were super-memorable recipes and just about perfectly prepared... the pork ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and well-seasoned, and again, I could barely bring myself to put any sauce on them. That being said, their in-house sauces were also each very unique and delicious in their own ways (which made me kind of sad, actually, since I could barely bring myself to put them on the meat at all! 😄). My wife also agreed about the brisket (and she's normally more of a pulled pork person) and she really loved her brisket and mac n' cheese sandwich (I can't remember what it was called on the menu), as well as loved the loaded baked potato salad that she got with it. And as if the food wasn't reason enough to visit Sassy's Red House, our server was also very attentive and friendly! If you couldn't tell already, I HIGHLY recommend you give this place a try! It's worth the drive to Fayetteville from Fort Smith (and quite honestly, worth driving even further to try!). 😋
