Slim Chickens — Restaurant in Fayetteville

I rarely review things unless somewhere really went above or below expectations. I’ve eaten at Slim’s since there was just the one location on College and I’ve never had a bad experience until this past Sunday.

I placed an online order at 4:30pm on Super Bowl Sunday expecting it to take a bit due to the rush. The app though said my order would be ready at 4:41pm though, so I went straight to the restaurant and arrived right about the time it should be done. There was no one eating in the dine in area but there were easily 15 people waiting on carry out orders. The cashier asked for the name and I told her and she said it would be “right out.” More people continued to pile in at about twice the rate that people got their orders and left. It never felt insanely busy or anything. At 5:18 I finally gave up and asked the staff if my order was ready and they checked and the receipt/order was nowhere to be found. A guy came from the back and looked up the order on their system, reprinted it, and had my order ready in 10 minutes or so.

I’m a really patient person and the store was clearly struggling with what didn’t seem to be a huge volume of customers so it didn’t really occur to me to ask before waiting so long but at the same time I wonder how long I would have waited if I never walked up to the...

I've loved Slim Chickens for a long time now.. And CJ Butcher Boys next door too as a matter of fact. Since I've eaten at Slims probably 3 times this week already I decided to go to CJ's this time and grab a burger. Since it's been awhile since I've been here (not because I don't love it) I forgot that they don't typically offer Ranch, and that in the past I've had to make due with ketchup, and I ordered my meal with 2 cups of Ranch on the side.

A few minutes later while waiting in line, I happened to notice a Slims employee running across the parking lot with a handful of something, then back across the lot a minute later; I thought nothing of it, continued waiting in line, paid for my meal, and went home. Once I arrived home and opened my food, ready to watch the latest Demolition Ranch video on YouTube, I noticed four cups of what I instantly recognized as my favorite Slims Chickens Cayenne Ranch and instantly connected all the dots!

The employees at CJ's were so unwilling to simply disappoint me a little bit and remind me that they don't sell ranch, that they called up Slims next door and asked for a couple handfuls of MY FAVORITE RANCH.. AND SLIMS HAND DELIVERED IT ON THE SPOT!! I don't know how long someone can live off of only burgers and chicken but we're fixing...

Hadn’t been to this Slim’s in a bit and was very surprised that my whole order was taken by a machine. Great idea, but made it a little difficult when I found out they didn’t have the buffalo wrap. I tried to ask for a spinach wrap with the regular slim’s wrap just tossed in buffalo sauce and after a long pause the voice confirmed the spinach wrap for the entree. Once we got to the window however, we asked the associate to make sure that it got the spinach wrap on the order. They said they did not have the spinach wraps anymore. I felt bad asking to change my order, but I hate their cheddar wraps. Once our order was brought out with the changes made we asked if they would ever bring the wrap back and the associate explained that they had a summer menu. So I guess that may have been why the computer got a little confused when taking our order. I love the ingenuity of having a machine take your order to alleviate work off the associates, but it definitely still has some more work to do. Look forward to visiting again when the wrap is back!
