Like I told them when I was leaving, I have found my off the beaten path place for my post V.A. appointment meals! When I say it's a hole in the wall, I hope you understand my old school meaning and take it as the compliment that it is! Even had a newer TV on top of an old TV playing Andy Griffith of all things so it really felt like a home atmosphere. Again, this is a compliment. Being in it's particular location, you can know it won't be packed with foolish staff or rude customers like a chain fast-food joint. You'd almost have to seek it out to know it's there and that, too, is a GOOD THING if you want tasty food at a good price anymore! The food is AWESOME and the staff are the epitome of good old fashioned salt of the Earth people's people. A real family owned and operated place. As it was my first time visiting, I kept it safe and went for a double bacon cheeseburger, soda and fries. Delicious! I also had a good feeling and grabbed a to-go patty melt that was even BETTER! To that end, my next trip will be all-out on their BBQ options. My next appointment is in 2 weeks and I wish it were sooner! If I didn't live 45 minutes away, it'd be a multiple times per week stop for me. Well done and thanks again for the good food! Give...
Read moreI suppose it seems as though I write reviews to places I have just fallen in love with or the positive impact the working class in these places have a positive effect on me. I can’t help it.
Wes BBQ is no exception. I have been visiting this little cozy hole-in-the-wall restaurant. I ate here for the first time back in 2010 and have been a sporadic patron ever since when I used to visit Fayetteville and then after I moved here.
The restaurant is so quaint and reminiscent of a mom and pop family run restaurant. I have had nearly everything on their menu and I cannot day that there has been a time I was ever disappointed. The portions they serve are well the worth the modest cost.
So, Wes has an a small arcade of nostalgic games!! Just two or three I believe but it is so fabulous! The tables are donned with picnic style table covers. The employees are extremely friendly. Wes makes wonderful BBQ and burgers! One thing that I can tell is that he really puts a great amount of effort and pride into his food. I especially love the generous portions of the okra I always order when I order...
Read moreThis is hands down one of the best hole-in-the-wall BBQ places ive ever been too. It has a nostalgic 90s feeling atmosphere with CRT TVs and a galaga machine that gives it charm.
I had the chicken and pork bbq sandwhiches, and they were moist, well textured, tender, and absolutely delicious. It's even better than Buccees for those familiar with how good their Bbq is.
The sides were also great, with the fries being golden and crisp, and the okra having a perfect snap to it. They dont salt the fried foods there, but thats really no consequence since you can add your own.
The staff is beyond friendly, and the prices are really low, with sandwhiches averaging 7 dollars, and sides randing from 2-3. I fed a group of 3 with sides and extras for just a bit over 30 dollars. A really good deal in today's economy.
Don't be fooled by looks, this place is a diamond in the rough, and I'll look forward to coming back to it after a 10 hour car ride on my future visits...
