My family, boyfriend and I would frequent Magic Wok, the previous restaurant here for lunch specials or just dinner. I was surprised to see that they are now Szechuan Impression but looked at their menu online and saw that they offer similar offerings but expanded on their menu too! I love the additions of Szechuan dishes and they have a lot more spicy options too!
My boyfriend and I got a lunch special on May 12, I called to make a take out order and was put on a quick hold before getting my order taken by a nice, professional lady. I got the sliced fish delight lunch special while my boyfriend got the cashew chicken lunch special. We both got fried rice but I got hot and sour soup while he got egg flower soup. The food was ready at the estimated time of ten minutes. The inside according to my boyfriend has not changed and remains as it did when it was run by Magic Wok.
The food was seasoned much better than Magic Wok and the portions were definitely bigger. I really enjoyed the different types of vegetables in my dish and they used ginger and garlic too! My boyfriend was used to how Magic Wok used to make the cashew chicken but he said it was pretty good here too but just a little spicier for his taste. We are definitely looking forward to coming back to try more of their new and...
Read moreMy family have frequented this local establishment for over 35 years, previously known as Magic Wok. Over those years we have seen this business change hands 3or4 times. Honestly we had only been patrons mabye 25 times in the last 10 years. It had seen better days. I have always loved to cook especially asian cusines (Thai, Indian, and Chinese). So usally we only dine or carry out for convenience or celebration. When i saw that it had once again changed hands and even dared to change the name of the local neighborhood institution i thought we would stop in and give them a try. The Szechuan Impression did not disappoint, the interior seating area was the same but with a cleaner brighter look and new more modern place settings. Staff was friendly and attentive. As for the food, it went from 2 stars to 5 stars. Shout out to the cooks in the kitchen. We tried some old standards to compare. It came out promtply and piping hot! Mongolian Beef, marinade and velveting technique made the beef moist and tender and the spice levels, spot on. Kung Pao chicken, Orange chicken, Sweet and Sour pork, WonTon soup all delicious. With the expanded menu there is plenty of new options to try. Lots of spicy dishes. Still loving our favorite local Thai place but highly recommending...
Read moreI was looking for a Chinese restaurant with strong reviews, and Szechuan Impressions caught my eye with a 4.5-star ratingâalbeit with only 27 reviews. Normally, I prefer to see at least 100 before giving a place a try, but I decided to take a chanceâand Iâm so glad I did.
What a wonderful surprise! Everything I ordered was flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. I tend to sample a wide variety of dishes and take home what I canât finish, and this visit was no exception.
I ordered the vegetable eggrolls, steamed dumplings, hot and sour soup, Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian beef, and chicken egg foo young.
The hot and sour soup stood out immediatelyâit struck a perfect balance of tangy and spicy, and was easily one of the best versions I've had. The Kung Pao chicken and Mongolian beef were both subtly seasoned yet full of flavor. The egg foo young was especially memorableâlight, fluffy, not at all greasy, and packed with taste.
Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was bright, clean, and inviting.
As I was leaving, I mentioned how much I enjoyed the meal and discovered the restaurant had only been open for about three monthsâan impressive start.
I highly recommend giving Szechuan Impressions a try. Iâll...
