I was so excited about making reservations here to take my mom out for her birthday. The woman who took the "reservation request" wasn't super friendly but friendly enough. The manager that called back to confirm the reservations, Janet I think, was wonderful and very friendly. Fast forward 2 weeks to today; I received a phone call an hour before our reservation to confirm. The woman that called wasn't the most friendly, as once I confirmed but before I could thank her and say have a good day or anything of the sort, she had already ended the call without a word. When we arrived for our reservations, who I assume was the manager, let us know they had reserved the table inside the vault itself; we enjoyed having a space to ourselves, especially when dining with a baby. Our waiter, Julian, came in with 2 carafes of water for the table and took our drink order. After our order for dinner was taken, our waiter never came back to the table until summoned. Two other gentlemen brought our soups and salads; Anna saw our empty bowls and cleared them for us but our waiter was still nowhere to be seen. Two more gentlemen came to deliver our main dishes and still, our waiter had not come to check on us, even though he was standing right outside the door and dealing with other guests. We sat with empty carafes for 45 minutes and we had to call our waiter over, as we were halfway through our dinner and needed assistance. We had asked for sour cream as our baked potatoes were so dry, they would crumble as we tried to eat them; someone else asked for ketchup for their french fries; we never did get any drink refills, even on the paid-for drinks. By the time he finally brought the items, 15 minutes later, we had given up on eating the rest of our meal as it had gotten cold or was too hard to eat as is. Most of the steaks were overcooked; I had asked for mine to be rare and my husband asked for medium but mine was cooked more than his! Our waiter, Julian, was one of the worst waiters we have ever had; he needs to be retrained so he understands what customer service is as well as standard practice when serving tables. Please know, they do not have high chairs, so if you have a baby, stay away or plan to hold them the entire time. We will NOT be back as this place is not worth the money. I am still fuming and regretting even...
Read moreMy daughters 25 and 21 we're excited to take me to this restaurant downtown Fenton. I am from Denver and love a good food and I have a lot of friends who are chef/owners always excited to try yummy new food… That being said we arrive at seven, when our reservation is, the four of us stand by the small entry way by door for a good eight minutes, we are greeted and taken upstairs to a table that is lovely get our carafe of water, order cocktails and a Mocktail and appetizers… 15-20 minutes later we got our drinks and ordered our main course (all the while still no appetizers) my 21 year old ordered the steelhead my daughter and her boyfriend both had steaks and I had the lobster rolls, we're good 50 minutes into our stay still no appetizers, salads come. my younger daughter and I go to the bathroom my older daughter meanwhile upstairs says to the waitress something about the appetizers she said it was completely her fault and put them in… our main entrées come ; both steaks were over cooked, my daughters fish had pin bones in it my lobster rolls were good but dry as we finish the waitress brings the appetizers? At the end of the meal... I mentioned to her the bones, the over cooked steaks and she says she'll take 20% off the steaks and the fish ... in my opinion one of the apps at a minimum should've been comped and a manager should have spoke with us. trust me I'm not looking for free food here I have no problem dropping $6~700 on a good meal for four… we get the bills, my daughters were buying me dinner so bills split in half. Being a server and bartender for the last 30+ years I of course grab the bill to see if she charged us for the appetizers and noticed that she took 20% off one side of the bill? she said some thing when dropping the check like she had discounted it before the split and it only showed up on one side but anybody that can do simple math knows that 4.50 off of a $45 steak is not 20% no apologies from the chef nobody other than the waitress ever at our table? Does this establishment not have a manager? To say this was a hugely disappointing experience for my daughters who were so excited to take me out would be an understatement. whomp whomp it's unfortunate there was so many things on the menu I was excited to try overtime but...
Read moreMy husband and I celebrated his birthday with a fantastic dinner out at The Vault Downtown Fenton! It was an absolutely lovely experience. We sat at a cozy table up front in the corner by all the big windows which was just perfect for an intimate date night/birthday dinner. We loved the atmosphere-classic yet modern and inviting, upscale yet casual and friendly vibe. We ordered four different craft cocktails each throughout the evening, and I think the very first one I had was my favorite of the night-the Blueprint (pictured below with the cute cucumber and mint garnish! They were all delish tho; very well thought out and beautifully presented! We ordered two appetizers-the Shrimp Rockefeller and the Bone Marrow. Both were absolutely amazing! The shrimp were large and succulent and served in a super cute little cast iron skillet and the bone marrow was rich and creamy with an amazing pork belly bacon jam on top that really complimented the marrow perfectly. We intended on the Farmer’s cut (a rotating chefs choice sourced from a local farm) which was a 16 oz TBone, however they ran out of them, so we had to make another choice, which was pretty easy with the menu presented. Rick chose the Lamb Chops, and I chose the Cowgirl Ribeye. Both dishes were beautifully presented, with well thought out preparations and accompanying sides. Every bite was amazing! My steak was super tender and perfectly cooked with an amazing Dijon mushroom sauce that was just enough to compliment the steak and roasted creamer potatoes without overpowering the simple delicious of the steak and potatoes. It also came with coal roasted asparagus that was perfectly cooked, tender yet al dente. Ricks lamb chops (two big think two bone each chops, so basically four chops) came served with an creamy and rich risotto and broccoli raab as the vegetable. That risotto! Omg, maybe the best risotto I’ve ever tasted! Everything we drank and ate was just sooooo good and the atmosphere and service was top notch! Our server, McKenzie, was very attentive and provided absolutely great service throughout our visit! She also recommended the Blueprint as my first drink! Overall, an amazing night! We will definitely return to The Vault to try more dishes and drinks!...
