Welp, it lives up to its name, that’s for sure. Walking in felt like stepping into a bizarre movie set. The atmosphere was stuck in a strange time warp, like something out of Men in Black, complete with mismatched and dated decor, dim lighting that made everything feel dingy, and a crowd that seemed more interested in whatever shady activities were going on than in enjoying a meal. In fact, there was a full-on illegal poker game happening right out in the open when we arrived, which was an immediate red flag.
Unfortunately, the food somehow managed to be even worse than the first impression. About 90% of what we ordered wasn’t even edible. The much-touted Fenwick Burger, which paired cheddar cheese with butterflied shrimp, was a disaster from start to finish. The patty was clearly frozen and cooked so far past done that it was dry and hard. The shrimp were rubbery and tasteless, as if they had been boiled into oblivion before being tossed onto the burger. The bun was stale and difficult to bite into, almost like it had been sitting out uncovered for days. Their so-called “homemade” gravy was rancid, giving off a sour smell before we even tasted it. Needless to say, it remained untouched.
The issues didn’t stop there. The tableware was questionable at best. The cups and glasses they used to serve water were dirty, and mine had a random lemon seed sitting in the bottom, which says a lot about how little care goes into cleanliness here. The service was equally bad. Our waiter seemed completely lost and disengaged, vanishing for long stretches of 20 minutes or more without checking in, refilling drinks, or addressing the issues we had with our food. When he was around, he offered no helpful suggestions and seemed almost annoyed we were there.
Dirty Harry’s is the kind of place that leaves you wishing you had just skipped dinner altogether. From the questionable atmosphere to the inedible food and disinterested service, there was nothing redeeming about our visit. Please, please, please stay away...
Read moreLet's start with the good. Our server was great and the food was fine as well. We were there for breakfast and had been on a prior occasion. What ruined the experience for us was the owner's daughter. Not sure if she is a regular server or filling in that day, but her attitude was terrible. As she was escorting us to our table, she asked me if I wanted anything to drink. I told her I wished to look at the menu first. Her comment was then you don't want anything to drink. (not what I said). She asked my husband (G) same question. By then we were at the table, still standing, G opened the menu to see what was available. She stood impatiently waiting for his answer, made a signal to me that she couldn't hear him, so I said I think he wants to look at the menu. She said, I already asked you, I had to ask him too. (then why are you looking at me for his order). She walked away to the next table. I had a broken foot and was having trouble with the chair/table legs and said to G this isn't working. She turned to us really snippy and said then we can find you another table. (but it was clear she thought I was talking about her - btw, I since have those feelings). She asked another server to take over our table. This server was great - fast, pleasant - no complaints. After breakfast I asked to speak to the manager to tell of our experience. Server #1 came over in the middle of the conversation and said to manager - Don't worry, I'll fill my mother in. As we were preparing to leave and leaving, two more times she approached us and said not to worry she would tell her mother everything. Her attitude of not being respectful and using her mother's ownership as her excuse for a poor job and attitude is disgusting. This 30 something year old woman needs to get a job outside of protective arms and learn respect and responsibility of working. I'm sure her mom's business will not continue to be a success if she continues to work there and alienate customers. Too...
Read moreWe had lunch here once, it was fine, but our service was not. I had asked for water (to take medicine) and it never came. Luckily I had some in the car, so I went out and got it. The waitress was not friendly and absent most of the time. We had to go to the counter for a coffee refill. We chalked it up to her having a bad day. Fast forward to spring and we try for breakfast. We got the same server. The food did come quickly. My creamed chipped beef was good, but my husband was disappointed. He ordered a lox & onion omelette which ended up being plain egg with some salmon & onions thrown on top. Our server never checked back for anything. She was very attentive to her 2 new tables. She finally brought the check then left us hanging for 15 minutes when we resorted to asking for help. The other waitress was very short with us in saying it had to be our server to check us out. The hostess said the same, but finally agreed to help since we had to leave. She was friendly, but appeared to be concerned about breaking a rule. Also, as stated in other reviews, customer treatment differs for whatever reason. 🤔 It seems they are busy enough to not care about losing...
