Just recently, on March the 17th, 2021 (St. Patrick's Day), after deciding on Fuji & Jade Garden as a birthday dinner treat for my mom, I ordered altogether the Seafood Pan-Fried Noodles, the Chili Chicken, the Chicken Chow Mein, and the Braised Pig Knuckle in Brown Sauce.
And I will honestly and whole-heartedly state that OH LORD, was that A SHEER MISTAKE, because the aforementioned were AMONGST THE WORST Chinese takeout orders we have ever had in our entire lives. This was like the second time where Jade Garden's food ABSOLUTELY FAILED to live up to our expectations. Now mind you, every person in my household, myself included, have all been regular customers of this joint for YEARS, over a whole decade in fact. This was only the second time we had ordered from Fuji & Jade's BRAND NEW location.
The Seafood Pan-Fried Noodles were sub par in consistency, taste, and quality of cooking, as it could not even hold a candle to the ones we had in Chinese restaurants elsewhere. The noodles were dry and stiff as a twig, and the seafood was very roughly patched together. The braised pig knuckles were actually NOT EVEN PIG KNUCKLES, but rather one single enormous round ham hock that wasn't even sliced in any way, and the chili chicken was possibly the worst of our orders this time around. The chicken pieces were hard to chew, overly fried to the very core, tasted like they were saturated with 5,000 grams of salt, and was beyond hot/spicy, with heaps of crispy red hot chili peppers scattered all throughout the chicken pieces. It was simply overdone in every way imaginable. The so-called "pig knuckle" had a strangely SWEET taste to it, and was not even cooked thoroughly enough. It was practically like chewing into rubber! I had to boil it in a pot myself just to tenderize the meat a bit and make the taste more accommodating. As for the chicken chow mein, I didn't have any of it, but my household member who did, stated that it was nothing like how it used to be, and the taste quality pretty much fell off big-time. It was awfully bland. The children in my household absolutely hated all the foods, one of them even gagged while eating, and I ended up deciding to toss a large portion of the foods outside of our deck to feed the local birds, crows, groundhogs, squirrels, and other small critters that often roam around scouring for food. I can't believe this place thinks their foods are even fit for human consumption! All in all, we will not be ordering from Fuji & Jade for a while now, if ever again. I would gladly give this review NO STAR at all if that were an option.
STEP YOUR FOOD GAME UP, FUJI & JADE! And hire better cooks to get the job done properly!!
Quick update 7/16/21: After deciding to order for a pickup from Fuji & Jade again by giving it another shot on the night of Friday, July 19th, 2021, we found out that their restaurant menu along with food entree prices had been updated. When we had all finished our meals, upon looking at their brand new menu and comparing it to the original menu, much to our utter chagrin, despite the addition of a number of new food selections, we were utterly outraged at such an unreasonable price increase for everything they had! We have been long-time customers of Jade Garden, and now they have lost their business from us. Their entrees are way too expensive now, and we have finally decided to not order anything from them for a long while,...
Read moreI would just like to start this review by saying I have been to the other Fuji Jade Garden on South Atherton and it was great.
When we arrived we were seated by a man who I would assume is the manager/owner. He brought us menus and 15 minutes later we were brought waters by our waiter. He seemed very overworked, so I don't think most of this was his fault. It took another 10 minutes for our order to be taken. My boyfriend ordered chicken and broccoli and I ordered 3 rolls of sushi and a kani salad appetizer to split. His meal came within 10 minutes after we ordered. The chicken was chewy and not the best. At least another 5 minutes went by and then my sushi came, and it was fine no complaints. We both finished our meals before the waiter even checked on our kani salad app. The waiter was very apologetic and said the kitchen was very busy, but a crab, mayo, and cucumber salad should not have taken more than 5 minutes to prepare (especially not longer than 3 rolls of sushi). When the kani salad arrived it was almost all cucumber and very little crab.
We heard several other complaints of waiting from people around us and some people left because of how long it took for service. The restaurant was still under construction when we visited and it looked bad. The staff was definitely overworked and not highly experienced which can lead to unhappy customers. I will not be returning to...
Read moreI love Chinese food, and I desperately wanted this place to be good because it's so close to where I live. Unfortunately, every experience I've had here has been disappointing.
I walked in yesterday and all the lights were off. If other people weren't eating here, I would've thought they were closed. It feels dirty as you walk in with tables full of dirty dishes from previous customers that hadn't been cleared even by the time I left.
I ordered a pork egg roll and chicken fried rice. The egg roll was out immediately and was tepid, stale, and not appetizing at all. Washing it down with water wasn't an option - the water tastes like it came from the bathroom sink. The chicken fried rice wasn't bad, maybe just a little greasy for my taste. It was much better than their fried tofu, which tastes rancid with a rubbery exterior. I really couldn't stomach it.
The worst offense was that the prices on my bill were higher than advertised in the menu. I understand price hikes, but not stating the real prices feels exceptionally scummy.
This restaurant has so much potential, but they look and taste like a hole-in-the-wall restaurant that charges P.F. Chang's prices. Avoid at all costs until they bring their prices down or clean up the restaurant,...
