I just happened to come across this place looking for a great place to eat and have a view of the beach n ocean, fabulously lucky after patiently waiting to get the perfect seat with a great breeze and view. That i would give 10 stars 🌟. I ordered the Shrimp n Grits, Jennifer said they are the best and never a complaint, UMMM I beg to differ. It doesn't state in the menu (I looked again maybe I overlooked) that they put pork in the dish and I don't eat pork. I ate around it best I could but disappointed about it. Just the wait for anything I had already been there for such a time I did want to keep waiting. The sauce is salty and muddled the other flavors. I ordered it blackened if you pull the Shrimp out eat it more individually it has a great flavor and the were cooked perfectly juicy. The grits had a big clump of a fried grit in the middle I don't think to be so successful, I've had better fried grits that has a nice creaminess but this one did not was kinda a one note clumpy mess. When I make it back in town I will give it another go but definitely ask to see what or if there are any hidden mystery items in the dish that would...
Read moreMy wife just came back from deployment, so we came here for breakfast because of the good reviews. Our server Rachael was absolutely horrible! I could understand if it was super busy, but she served and checked on everyone BUT us. She never checked on us after receiving our meal. We asked for one thing...napkins! Never recieved them because she said "I forgot". We had a empty glass for half the meal. She came to the person next to us a few times asking if she was good and if she needed anything else and serviced her right away. After taking our plates, we sat waiting 10 minutes for the check. We had to asked another waitress for it. Being in the service industry for 17 years, I consider this highly uncalled for. We usually tip WELL above 25%. No excuse for how she was 😒 Food was good, place was clean, and...
Read moreTortuga Jacks is an excellent choice for relaxed beachfront food & drinks on Amelia Island. The bar is very welcoming. If you come through for breakfast, the bartender Jay will be there to greet you. Rosie and the rest of the wait staff are very warm, welcoming and informative. There’s ample room in the dining room but the place to be is the deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The food is easily some of the best on the island. Bruce, the chef is a one-man band, and makes everything to order. The salsa & pico de gallo are prepared fresh in the kitchen by Julie. In a region where most condiments & dressings are standard food service industry fare, it’s the details like these that make Tortuga Jack’s a standout...
