Disappointed with my first meal, here. We went for dinner & to watch the đ game. Love the atmosphere when we first walk in. Unfortunately, that was the best part.
I asked for a strawberry mule cocktail, minus the vodka. The server just stared at me. I said, âyou donât have to use up a copper mule cup. A glass is fine.â He stuttered that he wasnât sure he could get me that. So, I said, ok, how about a lemonade with strawberry puree. (Itâs on the menu, with Titos). Again, awkward stare. He tells me that heâll find out what he can do.
A minute later, a no-nonsense manager comes to our table & asks me âdid you order a mocktail?â She said it as if I were going to be arrested at any minute. I said, âI guess so. I ordered a lemonade with strawberry puree. Like the one with Titoâs, only minus the Titoâs.â She said, âwe canât do that.â I asked why not? Why canât you ring up a lemonade, with an up charge for the puree? She said that it would completely mess up their inventory. I swear; she said that. She walked away. The server came back & I asked him for lemonade. I asked for it to come in a glass, instead of a plastic cup, if thatâs what it would come in. Again, awkward silence. He finally says that heâll have to talk to the bar manager first, to see if thatâs ok. I told him that if itâs a big deal, whatever cup it comes in is fine. He comes back 30 seconds later with a plastic cup of lemonade. No comment about the glassâŠ
By this time, my husband and I are wondering if we just entered the Twilight zone. My husband walks 5 feet to the bar and asks for an empty glass and hands it to me, which I use to pour my lemonade in.
I order medium-rare filet mignon, with a loaded baked potato & Caesar salad. The salad arrives partially frozen with chewy croutons. Iâm guessing that they pre-plate individual salads & place them in a chiller until served. It was inedible. Meanwhile, our server keeps pacing up and down the aisle, which is his station, never removing my husbandâs empty glass, salad plate, or asks him if heâd like another drink. Just paces & takes orders as guest are seated. He doesnât even glance at our table to check. When his co-worker brings out our meal, we ask her to remove our empty dishes. No one asks me if there was an issue with my full, uneaten salad. Ok⊠She asks me to cut into my steak, to check the temperature. I do. Itâs medium well. She says, well, that doesnât look medium rare to me. Is it ok for you? I confirm that itâs definitely not medium rare but itâs fine. She says, are you sure? She walks away (with our other dishes I had mentioned). I didnât want to fuss over a 2nd steak because, by now, my husband is eating, the whole experience has been weird, and are they going to really get it right anywayâŠ? Doubtful. It wasnât worth it to see. It wasnât going to kill me to eat a medium-well steak, right? First world problems.
The steak was terrible even despite being overcooked. Salty. Grainy. Tasteless other than salt & spice grains. The âloadedâ potato didnât come with the small containers to dress it. It came, dressed, with about 5 shreds of cheese, 3 scallions, 4 bits of âbaconâ. The skin was wet & tasteless.
The server came over halfway through dinner and asked, âis your steak cooked ok?â I didnât even look up and he kept walking.
The manager that came by about the âmocktailâ investigation, never made an appearance about the filet mess up.
The game was a nail biter. Our team won. So, all was not lost.
We eat out in our area, often. We were hoping to find our new go-to spot. This isnât it. Not with other great choices on the beach, 5 miles down the road. For a chain that brags about their nimble cocktail menu with like 200 varieties of margaritas, itâs odd that they âhave no way to ring upâ a drink minus alcohol. The irony is: I drink cocktails, plenty. I just didnât prefer one for this meal, this particular weekend.
Weâll be going back ONCE more; my elderly in-laws chose it for their choice of Anniversary dinner location. Itâs new, in our area. Low...
Read moreI was excited to visit this new establishment this past Thursday on SR 100, after viewing the menu and photos. I was so disappointed at our food experience at Miller Ale House. Our waitress was nice and personable. That was the only good experience we got from this place. Where do I start after spending over $90 with a 20 dollar tip for our waitress, because none of this was her fault, it was the kitchen and the expediters fault. I will first say that I understand that this is a new establishment and the staff is probably not that experienced, but that is no excuse for the cold food that we were served at the high end of their price point on the menu. We ordered two cups of soup, broccoli cheddar and French onion, as my wife said there wasnât a bit of onion in her soup. Both of our soups came to our table lukewarm. For our main course we had 16oz Prime Rib with a loaded baked potato, the butter barley melted on the potato, it baffled me you didnât even get a salad or vegetables with the prime rib for $25.99 you will get that at Texas Roadhouse, Iâm just saying Ale House, you might want to take notice. My wife had the $19.99 Osso Buco, served with mashed potatoâs and veggies. Once again everything came from the kitchen cold, it looked like the mashed potatoes were scooped up with a tea spoon instead of a nice scoop of potatoâs, there were so little on her plate, really, how much do mashed potatoâs cost, give your customers what they pay for. I asked for extra gravy and that also was cold, it looked like the kitchen just scooped it out of a can and sent it out cold. Someone in the kitchen has to take pride in what they do. Our waitress helper who brought the food to our table tipped the plate as he was putting it on the table and the Au Ju spilled all over my jeans, I wasnât even mad at that because I understand that these kids are still learning. What I wonât stand for after spending over $100 dollars is cold food from the kitchen that is unacceptable on any level because it doesnât have to be that way. Customers shouldnât have to hope and pray his or her food comes to the table hot, one should expect it not one time but every time. Now the good thingâs about our experience. The atmosphere was great, the meat on our plates had great flavor, my beer was cold and so refreshing, it brought my eternal temperature down from the cold food we were served. I know there are many things you guyâs are doing right. Iâm not going to let this one experience keep me from coming back. All I ask for is fresh hot food that Iâm paying top dollar for, then Iâm good. Have...
Read moreWe all know that every place thinks they have to be âFamily Friendlyâ, but there are limits. We, and many others go to the MAH on 100 every Sunday to watch NFL and just have some adult fun.Inevitably, the greeters seat a family, or families with several young children or infants. And itâs usually several families or a big combination. Now before you judge me as a grumpy old man, youâd be wrong. I am young and we have kids of that age. We just make courteous choices when we take them out. And that does NOT include a sports bar. Millers Ale House has an enormous dining area that does not include the sports bar. They should be seated there. Each time we go there, and we go often, they pack the noisy kids with loser parents into the sports bar. They actually out-scream the fun football and the fans/customers. Everyone stares at them and shakes their heads. The staff canât stand having them in the sports bar and they are very open about it. They spend the majority of their time refilling sippy cups and cleaning up spills. These tables rarely tip well and MAH wonât mandate tips on big parties. Trust me, most of the adult patrons complain about what has now been named, âThe Daycare Centerâ. One lady told a server that this is unfair. We have McDonalds and Chucky Cheese where the kids can be as obnoxious as they want, and if anyone complains, theyâd be thrown out. But at MAH, we all have to watch our language and put up with their mood-killing BS. Management are very receptive, but say that corporate is politically correct and afraid of taking a stand. We drop at least $100 every time we go. Staff say the day care center canât come close to that with kidâs meals, water and adults not drinking alcohol. Many of us are looking for other options, and they exist. Highjackers will reopen soon, and there are other just over the bridge. Simple solution: seat groups with small children in the main dining area. Yes, some will complain, but they will live it. A brief wait on the couch wonât kill them. Nothing will...
