my family and i are visiting town to celebrate a birthday, and we wanted to try different coffee places. this was our first stop of the day. i want to preface that we were a bigger group of people and the place was pretty small. before even ordering, we already got a negative vibe from the place. as the nice girl was explaining to us drinks from the menu, a couple of my family members were trying to use the restroom, and the male making coffee yelled at them across the coffee shop that only one person could go back due to it being a health violation. my grandpa can’t hear well, so my dad was trying to explain to him, and he yelled at them again. my dad came back and told them they should have a sign if that’s the case, and the guy aggressively told him “well yeah i guess we should then”. idk if he was in a bad mood or can’t handle being under pressure, but that’s no way to speak to customers. very rude and disrespectful. he even rudely told the nice girl to stop taking orders because he needed help. i totally understand rules being set in place due to health violations, but there’s no reason to aggressively yell and give attitude if that’s the case for your coffee place, especially when you’re not even the owner. it’s unfortunate because the coffee is made well, but all it takes is one experience. so just an FYI, no more than one person can go back near the restroom, otherwise you will be yelled at. hopefully you’ll take our advice to...
Read moreSingle Speed Coffee Lab & Roastery is, without question, one of the finest coffee destinations in Flagstaff — and among the best I’ve experienced anywhere. Their pour over exemplifies precision and clarity, with each cup delivering layered complexity and an immaculate finish. The cortado is nothing short of exceptional, a showcase of balance and texture that rivals any award-winning coffee I’ve tasted. It’s the kind of drink that reveals the roaster’s mastery in both technique and bean selection.
The food program is no afterthought. Both burritos are crafted with the same care as the coffee: bold, flavorful, and thoughtfully composed. The sausage, egg, and basil sandwich is a revelation — bright, savory, and satisfying without being heavy. Every item on the menu feels intentional, elevating the café experience to something far beyond a casual stop.
Single Speed isn’t just another coffee shop. It’s a curated experience in flavor, craft, and atmosphere. To visit Flagstaff and miss this place is to overlook one of the city’s true artisans of coffee and...
Read moreThe coffee here is good and this review isn’t about that. The review is about the lack of compassion and empathy that the owner has. Went into the store today and one of drinks was made wrong. The drink was remade but at the time of serving the owner took a very sarcastic tone when saying the drink order out loud. When we called the owner out for his sarcastic tone as it made us feel uncomfortable and unwanted to be his customer. Instead of apologizing he doubled down and got defensive that we called him out for his tone and how it made us feel. When he issued his first apology he still had it laced with sarcasm and passive aggression. After he didn’t want to apologize he stopped talking to my wife and decided to look at me to save him from apologizing. He finally apologized but then told us to leave. He tried to claim that his business is a safe space which it is when he is not there. It was a very disappointing experience when dealing with an owner that doesn’t believe that he could do something wrong or might offend customers with his...
