China City — Restaurant in Flint

My husband and I went there the other day bcus our normal Chinese food place was closed on Mondays. I got the seasmi chicken dinner & my husband got the "shrimp" lo mein. Well first of all, they charged us extra for the shrimp lo mein but actually gave him the chicken lo mein which my husband said was absolutely disgusting. And my seasmi chicken was beyond disgusting. I couldn't even eat it. It tasted like they made their sauce with ketchup, open put tangy BBQ sauce & Sriracha sauce put together which makes a stomach turning combination. There chicken was so hard, I couldn't even cut it up with a fork or a spoon, I had to use sizzors bcus there chicken pieces were HUGE!! Out of all the places we have gone for Chinese food, China City was by far the absolute worst. For 2 dinners that came with a won Ton soup in each, and a shrimp egg roll that came In each, it was $26.50, for food that we could barely choke down & eat. We was soo disappointed. And my husband doesn't complain a lot when it comes to food, and he couldn't hardly even eat it. Idk if there other food is any good, but I know what we got wasn't. That was our first and last time ever...

I ordered the almond chicken and the Kung Pao chicken. Both were delicious. Kung Pao had lots of chicken a rich savory sauce with just the right amount of spice and the almond chicken had a great gravy with really good flavor (and I've tried just about every almond chicken in the whole city), it was actually like a gravy and less like a sauce which I loved and the chicken was really clean with an excellent crispy coating. The egg rolls were delicious they had plenty of meat in them could have used a little more cabbage but I prefer the meat over the veggie. The portions were huge three people could eat on one order so you definitely get your money's worth. And it's fairly price in the lady who works the front counter is always very friendly. When you see where it's located you feel like it's not in the best area but it's safer than it looks. I was not super fond of the crab cheese there was just too many onions in it but it was really full of cream cheese and had a nice crisp and a delicious sweet and sour...

It's pretty great food but some days, I'm not sure if they have a different cook but like today, my order of sweet and sour chicken didn't have as much as it normally does. I'd say about half what they normally do. My friends beef and broccoli, the beef was really really light. We thought they messed up and gave her chicken but it was beef. One time they did screw up my order. I ordered the chicken tender or whatever kids combo and they gave me shrimp. Luckily my son didn't get his dad's shrimp allergy and he was fine but still. And I live kinda far from here to run back and fix an order. But I'm still generally happy this place. It's $8 for a lunch and normally you get enough for 2 meals kinda. Today I didn't but it's still better than empire wok. I went there for over 20 years and now thanks to this place I don't want to go back to empire wok lol the people there are very very nice. I'm sure if I had an issue and I brought it up to them, they would fix it with no issues. If I could give them 4.9...
