Imagine my excitement when a friend of mine called me up and offered to take me here to celebrate my birthday!! This establishment boasts a top-level sophistication of designs; It’s an unrivaled, well thought out place that is next level to atmospheric proportions of aesthetically pleasing tantamount! When you take your first step inside, you’re instantaneously met with a cool, chill scene. The music genre can be debated as it gives a level of calm, but upbeat tempo that meets cool, leaning into wanting to shimmy a minute or two. We were seated in a really nice section of the restaurant near the bar. Our server Jamesica made her way to our table eventually. After looking over the menus for SEVERAL minutes, we put our orders and drinks in. My table informed her that we would be dining there for my birthday. She actually left laughing, although I’m unsure why that was funny. I requested a water with my drink order which was brought out much later. My date wanted a soda & I wanted a lemon drop from the bar which I got after about 11 minutes from arrival & ordering. The server became inattentive, so I grabbed my drink from the bar myself. This particular aperitif that I ordered is known for sweet, sour, followed by bright & refreshing, & at times tangy components from the lemon juice. There were several of those missing, but I was invited out & didn’t complain. Our orders were lamb cooked medium with eggs, grits w/cheese, & an order of shrimp/grits. I was excited to have the full-on, unforgettable star-treatment experience! Our food was received 15-18 minutes later after it had been sitting in the window at least 5 minutes. My location allowed me to see the kitchen, staff and employees that were in the area. After our food hit the table my lukewarm grits were missing cheese. The server asked should she notify the kitchen or bring the plate back to be re-made, & I declined in which she laughed, again. She had one other table & we were concise about what we wanted when we ordered, but somehow, my food came out completely wrong & when she too, found this funny, I began realizing I wasn’t welcome. The eggs were over-saturated in a swathe of moisture & oil that had accumulated beneath the surface. They lacked flavor, austerity & effort. The lamb chops presented a single, sad, limp orange sliver of bell pepper.. Despite me ordering my lamb medium, they still presented tender, with adequate seasoning, a juicy, succulent, bold finish to the overall flavor profile of extra well done chops. They weren’t fatty, gamey, nor surface seasoned. My grits were flavorless, runny, cold & had seized up where they formed a starchy adhesion to the plate. My dinner date’s shrimp had tails on so it was tasking to eat. This wasn’t fine dining & doesn’t equate to all the reviews & trendy setting at all. My date’s grits were overly aqueous, requiring more than salt & pepper to make up. We decided we’d had enough. After payment as I was leaving the bartender, Ericka asked how was my experience. I told her my date brought me to celebrate my birthday, in which I wasn’t celebrated. No robot, no shot o’clock, no awespiring experience that is boasted here that creates the much advertised “vibe”. She asked if I’d like a birthday shot, which I obliged. The server returned to the area around that time & I mentioned to her- hey, you forgot my birthday shot- in which she commenced to guffawing once again! It was at this moment, I realized there was an air of urgency for my departure. In utter embarrassment & disappointment I made my exit. There were no smiles of gratitude nor appreciation. My reason for occasion was duped. The promise of great food, atmosphere, & an unmatched time were illusory. When a business advertises that they are only open for the culture, pass if you are not part of that culture representing the restaurant. This comes with a disclusion when an err of caution has already been asserted by the business. After a final dismal blow of disapproving lour from the security, I bowed out in utter shock, silence, & profound...
Read moreI was thrilled to finally visit this place after waiting a while. Upon entering, we were informed of a 45-minute to an hour wait, which was manageable. However, the wait ended up being only about 15 minutes.
As we waited, we had to ask for the hand-out menus, which took another 15 minutes. Then, it took another 30 minutes for our server, Jamesha, to arrive. She promptly took our drink and food orders and brought out the drinks and the sticky silverware.
We requested plastic forks and spoons, but they didn’t arrive until the food started coming, and we had to ask again. Another server eventually brought our food, but she started with the eggs and didn’t bring out any other food.
I ordered the fried fish and grits, which were decent, except for the small portion of grits. I felt the serving was inadequate for the price.
My friend ordered the grilled salmon and grits and was disappointed with her meal. My other friend ordered the lamb chops and potatoes but didn’t receive her food until after we had all eaten. She ended up asking for the food to go.
We understood that the food was cooked to order, but all the food should have arrived at once. We only saw our server, Jamesha, about three times: once to take our order, once to give us plastic forks after being flagged down and asked again, and once to pay.
Two girls who came in after us placed their orders, ate their food, and left before us. The service was poor, and I felt like more training was needed.
I love to tip, but I wasn’t inclined to do so during this outing because she technically didn’t service us. There were no drink refills, and she didn’t check in during the wait. It wasn’t a personalized experience at all.
They have a 90-minute seat limit, and it was about 90 minutes before we were even able to eat. The food being okay, I could have gotten over it had the...
Read moreThis is my first time eating at this establishment. When I first walked in with my family before I could even get in the doorway . We weren’t even greeted with a hello welcome to First of the month eatery . We were asked are you sitting in by the gentleman at the door we replied and said yes but he told my fiancée that he couldn’t come in the restaurant and eat because of his Nike brand shoes . We were pissed off because in a restaurant where customers are spending money why does that matter . It completely threw me off that this restaurant has a dress code to enter into the restaurant . That was very rude and very disrespectful so we left as we were leaving the gentleman at the door apologized. But I still was offended by the comments made towards my fiancée I wasn’t even feeling the vibe anymore. When it came time to take our order our waitress who served us only came to our table twice . She was more concerned with her other table than us . The food was fine but the prices were overpriced for four waffles and chicken . As we proceeded to leave the gentleman approached my fiancée again about the situation earlier and apologized but as a customer I will always be offended by how my fiancée and my family were...
