I had an appointment nearby and my daughter surprised me after by taking us here. We both love Indian food, and since she's vegan, there's always something she can eat.
We shared samosas for an appetizer, and shortly after, our entrees were delivered. I ordered Lamb Vindaloo, and my girl got a vegan dish that was delicious, as well as Roti. Everything was so good, and we'd ordered it spicy, which made it even better. Both our meals came with rice, which was also great. Of course we had leftovers, which we boxed up and took with us.
I did notice wine and beer on the menu, but neither of us drink so we didn't order anything. I got a can of Diet Coke, but they also had several Indian sodas available. There was also Bollywood music and dancing on two different TVs, which I love, so that was very enjoyable.
The two things I could have done without were the automatic bottles of water that were brought to the table without us asking, and the plasticware we had to use. I just picked up my samosa to eat it, as it's next to impossible to cut with a plastic knife. We've made an effort in our personal lives to not leave such a bit carbon footprint, so we never drink bottled water or use plasticware. I'm also used to getting two types of dipping sauce for samosas at other Indian restaurants, but this didn't come with anything. I asked for a side of mint chutney, but it was unlike anything I'd ever tasted. My daughter liked it so we took home what wasn't used. It was just different, which I guess one can expect in other locations, though I've been to a wide variety of Indian restaurants in other cities and the mint chutney has always been basically the same. It was interesting.
I have two more appointments at the same place in the next few months, so there's a very good chance we'll...
Read moreCame in today at somewhere between 130pm and 2pm - first visit. When we came in, the waitress asked us we we would like the buffet. Not having been there before, we thought it would be a great way to sample multiple things. We sat down, grabbed our plates and - no joke - every tray was empty, with the exception of two dried up grains of rice, what had once (long ago) been a piece of chicken tandoori and a half a piece of naan. We scraped together what we could (which wouldn't even have made one sorry excuse of a mouthful, and sat down to delight in our scraps. We asked the waitress and waiter if they were going to bring out more food and that they had run out of everything. We stayed 45+ minutes, going up to the buffet bar every time they were bringing something out. In the time we spent there (45+ minutes of our lives we'll never get back), they brought out two dishes of basmati rice, and two loads of naan - that was it! All the other empty trays looked as pitiful as they did when we arrived. Having finally had enough, we went to pay our bill (which was a complete joke based on what little we were able to scrape out of the buffet dishes) and I asked the cashier if there was a better time to come, one during which they would actually have some food - his reply was to laugh at me. When I asked him if he thought this joke of a restaurant and cheating customers was funny, he just laughed again. Not wanting to spend the night in jail, I decided to leave. My advice, treat this establishment like a hooker with a flaired-up case of VD- it may look nice on the outside, but will certainly disappoint once you get the wrapper off (another long story.). Anywho, if there was a way to leave zero stars, I would with no hesitation- it would be more...
Read moreCozy place with amazing authentic Indian flavors and food! Simply said, you're there to eat and that is the main attraction. The food speaks for itself. Available in all levels of heat (you know I'm all about that) From 1 to 5 (where 1 is little or none and 5 is thai hot!) My expertise comes from eating the Indian food my wife cooks, and over the years she has gotten good at it. At a table for 7, all sharing, I loved everything that the table ordered and place it on par, and perhaps occassionally a tiny notch above my wife's cooking. (that's saying a lot!) We are both foodies, and recommend this place if you like spicy or hot and spicy authentic Indian cusine!
The atmosphere is by no means extravagant, but functional, close and cozy. I forgo rating this because the food far outpaces the atmosphere and make the trip worthwhile! We were there to eat authentic, and nothing else matters. Clean, efficient and tasty! :-) I had the LAMB MADRAS (delicious), and my wife had TARKA DAAL (she says delicious) and everyone else enjoyed theirs. The menu selection is huge, definately worth return visits! (
