Birds Nest — Restaurant in Florence

First of all, let me start off by saying the food gets 3 stars because of my situation described in this review. On March 26, 2024 my friend and I came to the restaurant to do a take out order. The bartender (don't have her name, but she's pregnant) did not greet us. She asked if we wanted menus, no hello welcome to Bird's Nest or anything. I ordered the Thai Chili wings (2 orders). She didn't even give us time to see if we wanted to order anything else (at least ask is there anything else we wanted). The wait time was not bad. The bartender brought the orders out and did not give us a 'thank you for coming or anything.' Just placed the food on the bar and that was it. Well, as always I checked my order before leaving. In one of my boxes I saw there was a chicken wing full of feathers. I asked the bartender if I could get a replacement. How is it that the cook did not see this when he/she was placing the food in the box? When I opened the box that was the first thing I saw. I did get a replacement without a 'we are so sorry that happened' or at least 'let me give you a soft drink for that mishap.' She brings my replacement wing out and placed it on the counter, then walks off. Number 1, work with your employees on their attitudes and number 2, make sure your cooks check the food...

Tried this spot based on the recommendation of my friend and am so glad we did! At first you’d think the place is super small but there’s much more seating in the back and you can seat yourself. The bar is well stocked and neat. I didn’t order a drink since I went on my lunch break from work but I’ll be returning and will update my review accordingly. First off, the service was quick and knowledgeable. She had our drinks out fast and even made appetizer recommendations. I love friend pickles and if they’re on the menu I typically get them and these were worth it. So yummy. The bistro sauce that comes with the pickles left a strange aftertaste for me so I went with ranch instead but my boyfriend loved it. After eyeing the menu we both decided on the space jam burger. Absolutely amazing! One of the best burgers you’ll get in this town and I'm not exaggerating. The fries weren’t anything special but they complemented the burger well. We were really looking forward to dining at Birds Nest in Florence due to their menu looking delicious, but unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We waited for 14 minutes without being helped—despite politely asking two different employees for menus and service. One man, standing just feet away in the manager’s office, brushed us off and never came back. The second server responded with a flat “okay” and disappeared into the kitchen—no apology, no water, no follow-up.

This was at 6:00 on a Saturday evening. The restaurant had several empty tables and didn’t appear overwhelmed, so the lack of service wasn’t due to being busy. What really bothered us was the dismissive and indifferent attitude of the staff. When we finally gave up and left, no one said a word as they watched us leave.
