A Hidden Gem in Florence – Mi Rincón
I can’t say enough good things about Mi Rincón in Florence. My mother and I had been craving authentic Puerto Rican food, and living in Edgewood, we usually had to make the trip to Cincinnati to find anything close. But today, we discovered this amazing spot—and it was like walking into a warm memory of home.
From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with the welcoming smiles of Carla and her family. The ambiance, the smells, the music, the flavors—it all reminded me of how my mom and grandmother used to cook. It felt like a piece of Puerto Rico right here in Northern Kentucky.
My mom had pernil with arroz con habichuelas (pork shoulder with rice and beans), and I had the shrimp mofongo, which was perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. For dessert, I enjoyed a smooth, creamy coconut flan, and we washed it all down with a Malta India and a refreshing watermelon drink. Every single thing we ate was spot on.
We stayed for a couple of hours, just enjoying the space, the company, and the food. The patio is lovely, the service is genuine, and the love they put into their food is obvious in every bite.
Mi Rincón is definitely going to be our new go-to spot—for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a quick treat. If you’re looking for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine with soul, flavor, and heart,...
Read moreI was beyond excited when I heard a Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 shop was opening up! After visiting Puerto Rico in December and falling in love with the pizza empanada, I was dying to taste it again—so of course, I had to check this place out.
The shop is in a super cute location, with a charming patio area that I can’t wait to enjoy once the weather warms up. Hopefully, they expand their beverage menu (a variety of nice lattes 🍵 would be a dream! To pair with their tasty food ) so I can sip on something delicious while soaking in the atmosphere. Inside, there are about six tables for dining in, making it a cozy but comfortable spot.
The owners were incredibly sweet and took the time to describe the dishes in detail, which I really appreciated. Parking is plentiful, so no worries there!
Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely amazing. I ordered the pernil 🐷 sandwich, and it was a solid 10/10. Huge portion, so I even had leftovers for the next day. The empanadas? Bigger than expected, and I’m not complaining! I got one beef empanada and three pizza empanadas—each one delicious. And I couldn’t leave without trying their famous quesito with guayaba, which was a very generous size for the price.
Overall, I’m so happy this spot opened, and I’ll definitely be back. Wishing them all the luck and good...
Read moreThe food was mediocre at best. Listed as puerto Rican food but only had a few items on the menu that were even close to Puerto Rican style. My emanates seemed to be frozen boxed food and was edible but not very tastey. My friend had mofongo that he said was good tho. The employee was a teen or early 20s young man. He acted as though we were bothering him by being there and actually ignored us as we attempted to ask questions. There were only 3 other people there at the same time and our food took much too long to be served compared to any other restaurant. I will not...
