Went up there last night. They change dj's too often and the music played is getting more and more for the younger crowd. I like old country and they used to have a crowd that would karoake the old country. That was a fun time. Oh how they have changed that great atmosphere. Anyway last night I ordered the gumbo (which is the only good thing about the place). I ordered a larg bowl. It came out in a 16oz bowl and was only half full. I asked the waitress, who was nice, about the fact the bowl was only half full. she said she would ask the cook. she came back and said that there was 12 oz. in the 16 oz bowl and that is the limit on what they serve. Don't put the stuff in such a big bowl then you idiots. So it came time for me to order my wings. I tell the waitress I want buffalo style wings and that i wanted all flats(wings and no drumsticks} which is what I order everywhere I go to get wings and never have a problem anywhere else. But not here. So she brings out my wings and there were as many drumsticks as flats. I asked her why not all flats as I ordered and, get this, she said,"they said that I made an UNHONORABLE request". Are you kidding me? Is that the way to treat a customer? They just lost a customer. Terribly run and it will do them in. By the way, it's NEVER crowded even on weekends. Gee,...
Read moreVisiting for the weekend and tried Cracker Barrel, because it was close to our hotel. The line went out the door, so we looked for someplace else. We’re so glad we did! A little unsure about breakfast in a bar, but the food! The food was great. Starting with the coffee: regular old coffee, just the way you like it. Eggs cooked exactly to order, biscuits and gravy just right, potatoes perfect, and goetta. Never tried goetta before, it’s like a scrapple with steel cut oatmeal in it, and without the hot black pepper. So very good. (We brought some home from a store, too.) I’ve been in my share of bar bathrooms, and expected no better here, but this was shiny clean, well stocked and well lit. Next time we head up to the Cincinnati area, we’ll be sure to get breakfast...
Read moreWe were there ln last Sunday. Ordered omelet with gotta. Food brought out for whole table. "Goetta will be out in a minute". Ate half my omelet and asked for goetta which I had ordered crispy. See the other server take the goetta to an adjacent table. Had to wait again. Ask for refill of hot tea. It was brought when I was finished eating. My son asked for salsa for his omelet when served and never got it. Goetta was finally brought out mushy and barely cooked. It certainly wasn't crispy. Didnt want to send it back and have to wait some more. Meanwhile server had time to go outside and smoke. I have been going to stringtown for over 40 bvb years but less now with all the shutdowns. Service was not very good. Food was okay. Will gave to give some thought...
