We used to frequent this place when it was Popi's and it was great. Sorry to say that today was our first visit to the new 5th Season Diner & Lounge. We went at 11:00 am for brunch, as we like to do. When we walked in there were 3 tables occupied, all others were empty so it was not busy. When the waitress came over, I ordered a cheese omelet with sausage patties, home fries and a biscuit. My husband ordered 3 eggs over easy with a ham stake, home fries and whole wheat toast. At this point, 2 other couples came in so there was a grand total of 6 occupied tables. We sat waiting for 40 minutes for our orders to come. In the meantime, the 2 couples that came in after us ordered and received their food as we continued to wait. All the waitresses ignored us and I had to practically beg for a refill on our coffee. Were it the bustling breakfast or lunch hours I could understand the wait but we make it our business to go to restaurants at an "in between" time so we don't have to deal with this kind of service. When the orders finally did come, some 40 minutes after ordering them they were wrong. I received an omelet with sausage links cut up inside, hard dried up home fries and NO biscuit. My husband's order came with only 2 eggs over easy (as opposed to the 3 he had ordered), hard dried up home fries a miniscule ham steak and NO wheat toast. We finally managed to get our toast and biscuit but, on the whole, the meal was a totally DISGUSTING experience. We paid the bill and my husband was kind enough to leave a generous tip, despite the fact that the service was ABYSMAL but I can assure you that we will never return to this restaurant again and we will make it known to all our friends and associates that this is not the place to go. For excellent service, generous portions and good prices go to Mocha Joe's on Cortez, you won't be...
Read moreEdited at the bottom to respond to owner* Had a late breakfast meeting yesterday at this place. We ate while conducting business. Out of the 25-30 tables there was only us and another table in use the ENTIRE time we were there. The OWNER "J" personally comes out and tells us, "He's running a restaurant. We need to eat and leave." He was very demeaning and passive aggressive.
The waitress was embarrassed and apologized to us. We heard her trying to intervene on our behalf.
I can't say his harassment was based on the color of our skin, but it certainly wasn't based on the content of our character.
Needless to say, we will not patronize the business again.
Maybe we should have used the "colored only" entrance and exit.
EDIT Sir,
1st I heard with both of my EARS that the waitress told you we were taken care of and to leave us alone several times. (We'd paid and were having coffee nothing to "cash out)
2nd there was no shift change since I overhead you say someone called in and had the waitress take the aleve since she was having to work a few hours longer and she was hurting a little.
3rd you waited until the male in the party stepped away from the table to try and intimidate the woman. (By the way he was a regular customer)
4th apparently you're not "running a restaurant " since by the other reviews and responses you're running your already almost non existent customers away.
Lastly it was obvious that the problem wasn't the snarky "cafe" remark but about the implied "we weren't welcome and how dare we".
Please have the day, week, month and year you deserve. We should all practice more human kindness as the year is 2024 not 1944. As it is clear a certain demographic is not welcome in your establishment by you. This in no way reflects on...
Read moreJust left from dinner with my 2 kids. Definitely not a diner. Menu is way too big and they can't seem to be able to make up their minds what kind of restaurant they want to be. St. Patrick's Day at dinner time and we were one of 3 tables. Should have been my first clue. Didn't notice us when we came in, so we stood for a few minutes before being seated. I realize our waitress was being trained, but how is it that a simple unsweet tea is forgotten, then brought warm with no ice, straw, or flavor, but two $5 blended drinks are remembered? The blended drinks were in those misleading glasses that make them look bigger than they are. No alcohol, so not worth anywhere near $5. After a pretty long wait for a place with less than 10 customers at the time, we got our food. We were told they were waiting for the pizza burger. A pizza burger with "truffle oil and parmesan fries" that had no parmesan and we're not fried in truffle oil. Asked for it medium, and it was a hockey puck (guess that's what took so long). A BLT advertised as being on Texas toast came on plain white bread. Hard to screw up a BLT, so it was ok. Chicken teriyaki bowl that was mostly rice and broccoli, very little chicken. This so-so "diner" dinner cost over $50 with tip. I give this place about a month and it will be gone if they don't change...
