Visiting from Wilmington, NC, to see family. Decided to stop here before we ran some errands, and boy, am I glad we did! The staff is amazing! They were so personable and so kind, from taking our order to packing up our leftovers to enjoy later. The food was ready FAST, and it was absolutely delectable! I got The Surfer on white bread with Provolone and extra cucumbers. I chose potato salad as a side. The sandwich was amazing. Perfect for a HOT day! The meat is so thin it's almost shaved (perfect for a sandwich!), and the cucumbers were cold and thinly sliced, fresh, and the perfect crunch on the sandwich. Now, let's talk about that sauce ... I neeeed the recipe, guys! It's creamy! It's tangy! It's full of flavor! It's the first thing you taste before you even taste the meats and toppings. I feel like that's what MAKES the sandwich! This really is the best sandwich, no exaggeration. The potato salad was perfect, too! Creamy. Thick. If you like crunch to your potato salad, this might not be for you. No crunch - just soft potatoes and a delicious flavor! I wish you guys would open a location in the ILM. It would be a huge hit. We really enjoyed ourselves. Loved the atmosphere, food, and service! Thanks, y'all! I'll definitely be back on my...
Read moreFamily owned restaurant but not in a good way.. The owner's son(the proprietor) is misogynistic and rude to his employees. His wife is a just little bit nicer, but she is not accommodating and rude as well to customers. This place very often runs out of ingredients, whether it is bread, meat, or tea, with no offer to substitute or offer to refund when the service is not given. I gave this restaurant multiple chances, one instance asked for pickle on the sandwich, the owner's son charges me $2 for a 1/4 pickle spear... I asked him about it and he said he misunderstood me and refused to deal with the situation properly, his employee saw the interaction and brought me some freshly sliced pickles so I could put them on my sandwich. Just today they ran out of tea and I offered to brew it myself(push a button) and even purchase multiple gallons of tea to offset their costs and the owner's wife refused service and tried to push me towards fountain soda.. The owners are rude, I honestly feel bad for the workers. $10+ for a small sandwich is wild, a pub-sub is a better value, and the employees are happier. I won't...
Read moreA friend reccomended this little Sandwhich shop and we decided to stop on our way out of town for the holiday.
The store was clean, the employees making food wore gloves and the smells were divine, a great sign.
All I can say is Yum. I ordered the Italianna it's a warm sandwhich, and my friend got the Villager.
The Villager has bologna, salami and swiss. I normally don't eat bologna, however, I tried a bite and it was delucious. The meats they use are on display and seem up be high quality.
I asked to have the Italianna with the Italian dressing on the side, I reccomend this to be sure you experience the best flavor profile. The ham, salami, pepperoni and house sauce they use with the melted provolone and fresh lettuce, tomatoes and onions is a taste explosion. I tried the Italian dressing, which is good, I just liked this sandwich better without it.
The only thing I did not care for was the potato salad, it was very bland.
They have won a couple of local awards for good reason, if your in the area give this busy lunch spot a try...
