Batch New Southern Kitchen & Tap: Delray Beach — Restaurant in Florida

On Sunday 6/25, I called ahead to be placed on a waitlist for a table of a party of 11 adults. At the time I inquired on the wait time & I was informed 30 minutes & possible a few minutes later. Upon arrival, we cane into the lobby of the restaurant as it was weltering hot outside. As this was our preference for inside seating. There were on (2) tables occupied by patrons. And there were several seats outside, but far too hot to dine comfortably. We were asked to move outside to the bar area, so patrons could enter the restaurant easily. Well after 30, minutes we were told it would be another 20 minutes of wait time. The total wait time had been 1 hour & 15 min. Had I been told that it would have been over an hour I would have not placed a my name for a table since my party could have clearly done that at several establishments/restaurants on the east side of Delray rather than traveling to west Delray. The breakdown of communication was terrible & NOT once did a member of management try to accommodate my party until we took over the bar area. Miraculously, the host found (2) separate table & (2) separate servers. If I didn’t know any better I’d assume they wished we had left. Which was definitely considered, but to face another hour plus wait was unacceptable. This wasn’t my first visit, BUT WILL DEFINITELY BE MY LAST!!! I’m a tax paying citizen of Delray & have lived here for 51 years!!! I was embarrassed because I insisted that my party try this pub. The experience has left me beyond bitter. The hostess did I guess her job, by management is the keeper of the gate & ensures a pleasant dining & that was far beyond the case. I will be forwarding my experience with their corporate office. Had my party known that our morning event would have ended earlier, we would have made a reservation. However, from the time we were told until the time we were seated exceeded well over an hour, we wouldn’t have wasted our time, energy or money. As I mentioned earlier it’s a definite NO!!! The servers however, were pleasant & professional. The bartender was brass & short with my party. I particularly waited to see if a member of management would come over & didn’t at any time during our dining experience. And that’s fine because we won’t EVER RETURN!!! There are too many other establishments that prove or have proven they appreciate new & old...

We’ve been going here for years. It was great a couple years ago - especially with the bison burger. But lately it’s gone downhill. The last 3 times we’ve gone it’s just been off. The drinks are TINY - yet very expensive. The food is just okay.

But my main reason for this review is our recent experience. We ordered 3 kids meals. 2 Mac & cheese meals and a chicken tender meal. The chicken tenders came with a pretty large amount of chicken and a lot of fries. But the Mac and cheese was unusually small portioned.. I mean it had to be a side dish . Fries or anything else were not included.

To be honest I’m visually impaired and really couldn’t even see the menu. My friend looked at the menu and said it wasn’t specified on the menu that the Mac and cheese doesn’t include anything else.

The waitress came and asked how everything was and when I expressed my concern about it she literally walked off while I was mid sentence. The least she could’ve done is just apologize and clarified for us and showed us in the menu where it said Mac and cheese gets no sides. But she didn’t. She rolled her eyes and walked off. She avoided us the rest of the time we were there. She couldn’t been kinder about it. When we left the kids were still hungry and honestly $17 for 2 sides of Mac and cheese that was actually under cooked?

When the waiters come and ask how everything is… are we not allowed to ask questions? Walking off was wrong. The amount of food my kids were served made no sense especially because it’s the same price as the tenders meal which comes with sides and had plenty of food.

Unfortunately we won’t be going back. We used to go here a LOT but I can’t go back if that’s how you guys allow your waitresses to treat customers… walking off while a customer is asking a question isn’t okay ever. Please be more kind to...

First time at this establishment. The servers were really nice and friendly. The hostess super friendly. The food was just OK. The fries were really good. The waffle was really good as well. The boneless chicken wings were good. Besides that, the food was just not great. My wife had a skirt steak which had no flavor at all, unless you put on the chimichurri sauce. But the chimichurri sauce itself was not great either. Had a weird flavor to it. The chicken with my chicken and waffles, appeared to have been fried in dirty oil or it absorbed too much grease. It had too much batter on it. It tasted like grease. The drinks were not great either. I have had many types of Sangria before in several different places. I tried three different types here, didn't like any of them. The main reason why I gave it 3 stars is because we were seated at a table which wasn't clean at all. I went to sit down and saw all kinds of food crumbs and grease on my chair. I asked the hostess to please have someone clean it. She was very nice and apologetic and cleaned the chair herself. Since the chair she just cleaned was wet, she passed me another chair so I could sit, but the other chair was dirty as well. When I finally Sat down on a clean chair, I noticed that under my feet was super dirty. Apparently whoever ate at this table before me, had issues keeping food on the table. There was a mess at my feet and obviously staff didn't see it. I just dealt with it. The menus were dirty. Super greasy and sticky. Clearly no one wiped them down. I hate touching a dirty menu before I eat. It just doesn't feel right. The bathroom needed some TLC. Not horrible, but needed a some attention. Not sure that we will come back again.
