I was looking for a fast casual dinner after a hike at nearby Green Cay and I am so happy that I decided to give Dos Amigos Tacos a try. Located in the Delray Marketplace, they opened in December of 2021. The restaurant was created by culinary industry veterans Derek Mazer and Michael Jameson, who previously worked at Lucille's Bad to the Bone BBQ.
The restaurant has parking in the rear. Dos Amigos offers both outdoor patio and indoor dining at tables. The restaurant is decorated colorfully with sugar skulls, Mexican art, and woven basket lights.
The menu here features an unique Americanized take on 18 kinds of tacos, burrito bowls, salads, and quesadillas. All are made with high-quality ingredients that include non-GMO vegetables and ethically raised meats. Tacos include the traditional chicken, carne asada, Baja shrimp, al pastor and mojo pork, but you can also find more creative options like the Philly Cheesesteak. They also have vegetarian choices featuring brussels sprouts, mushrooms, and cauliflower. Margaritas are made to order fresh, not from mixes. Flavors include lime, prickly pear, strawberry, mango and passion fruit.
This is a counter service restaurant and they give you a number to place on your table. When your order comes up they come out from the kitchen and find you. For my order I chose the Philly Cheesesteak ($5.50) made with marinated steak, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and horseradish aioli in a cheese crusted flour tortilla and the Baja shrimp taco ($5) seared shrimp citrus aioli, citrus slaw and pico in a flour tortilla. I was just going to have two tacos but then I saw that they have a seasonal taco that changes monthly. In honor of St. Patrick's Day they offered a taco named The Irishman made with shaved corned beef, cabbage slaw, mustard aioli served in a Swiss cheese crusted tortilla. I couldn't resist such a celebratory taco. To wash everything down I ordered. a Jarritos in my favorite flavor, pineapple.
I was impressed by how quickly my tacos came out after I ordered them. Even better, these were some creative and delicious tacos. I thought they were all great but I have to give props for the fusion of Mexican and Irish cuisine that came together in the Irishman. It just goes to show that you can stick just about anything in a taco shell and it will be delicious. Dos Amigos was such a fun find in the marketplace. Next time I am in the area I will definitely be back to try more of their...

I came to Dos Amigos hoping for some decent Mexican food and a beer. I left with the realization that I had just eaten at what can only be described as a gas station taco stand disguised as a restaurant.
First, let’s start with the good. They have beer—that’s important. They also have a nice outdoor seating area where you can enjoy the live band from the Italian place across the street at a reasonable volume, which honestly ends up being the highlight of the experience.
Now, for the food. We knew better than to order tacos because anytime you see one of those little wavy metal taco holders, it’s a dead giveaway that the place is trying way too hard to be trendy. That usually means overpriced and underwhelming. So we thought we played it safe with nachos—big mistake. Instead, we were served a tray of chips drowning in Thousand Island dressing instead of chicken. Apparently, at Dos Amigos, protein is a sauce, not a food group. And of course, there were beans—because I’m pretty sure this place funds itself entirely through bulk bean sales.
Still determined, I ordered a burrito bowl and, in a moment of curiosity, asked for Brussels sprouts. They actually put them on top. Just sitting there, on a bed of rice and beans, like some kind of Frankenstein fusion that should have never seen the light of day. I appreciate the effort, but no one—no one—is out here thinking, You know what this burrito bowl needs? A cruciferous vegetable surprise.
As for service, the kids running the place are fine. They bring your food to the table, but that’s where their job apparently ends—no utensils, no napkins, just vibes. And despite the fact that you have to get your own utensils, fill your own drink, and bus your own table, they still have the audacity to ask for a tip. Like, I’m sorry, for what? Handing me a plate?
Final thoughts: If you’re coming here, come for the beer, the patio, and the free concert from the Italian place across the street. If you’re coming for the food? Go...
Read moreWow! This place genuinely is a hidden gem. Extremely good quesadillas, delicious tacos, and great margaritas.
We had the Philly cheesesteak quesadillas, and steak, chicken, brisket tacos. The quesadilla was literally the best I've ever had. Crispy outside hot and cheesy inside with amazing steak snd phenomenal horseradish dipping sauce.
The steak and chicken tacos were very good, had plenty of meat, and were fresh and full of good flavor. The brisket taco was on a different level. Extremely flavorful, very nice fried shell, and tons of brisket.
The chips with sauce trio was also excellent. All the salsas were fresh and tasted fantastic.
The classic margarita and prickly pear margarita were both very good. All margaritas here are pre mixed (but made with good Tequila) and taste very good. They do add the rim of your choice, I recommend the spicy one which was delicious.
Price overall was very good. Coming in at about $50 for two people with alcoholic beverages which is low for the area.
The service was extremely fast with appetizer arriving about 30 seconds after we sat down and main course arriving less than 5 minutes later. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
If you're near the delray marketplace and looking for fast, affordable and delicious TexMex style food, this is the place to go. Im truly blown away by how great the...
