Cody's Original Roadhouse - Port Charlotte — Restaurant in Florida

This place is messed up. They need to fix their hostess and food prep issues. Their web site gave a phone number to call for call ahead seating for this location. I called and tried to make reservations. I was told to download their app. I could not find their app in the app store so I called again. They told me it was a third party app with a different name. (You think they would have mentioned it on the phone when I called the first time) So I downloaded the app and made reservations. I showed up 20 minutes later and was told by the hostess that I did not make reservations. I tried to show it to her on my phone but she refused to look. (I guess what her computer says is how it is, screw everything else). I did not even get an apology or any indication that she cared about the situation. Actually we were treated kind of hostile by the hostess. The place is half empty so I figure no big deal. But then we are told there is a ½ hour wait. (Half empty and a ½ hour wait. ????) So we head to the bar where we ordered a drink. The bar staff was friendly and we got our drinks fast. About 15 minutes later we saw people coming in the door and being seated immediately we decided to ask what the holdup was. Again, an attitude from the server and we were told to wait. Remember, the place is half empty. Plenty of booth and plenty of tables. We then caught the eye of a manager and told him of our dilemma and he told the hostess to seat us right away. After about 5 minutes we were lead to the rear of the dining room and put at booth right next to the kitchen door and bathrooms. Again, there were plenty of other places to sit. We passed several empty booths in much better locations. Well, the waitress was a breath of fresh air. She was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The only problem is that they had run out of some of their steaks that night. How do you run out of steaks??? The first two I asked for they did not have. So I had to settle for a larger more expensive steak. Then we were told that they ran out of baked potatoes…. All 4 of us had ordered the baked potatoes. So the food comes and for some odd reason, it was pretty good. It was just not what I wanted to eat that night. We asked waitress who was running the place and she told me she would get the manager. When he came we told him of our displeasure with the hostess staff and he agreed. He knew they were a problem. He said he was not in charge of the hostess and had addressed the issue with his boss but nothing was done. Of all the people looking for jobs, how can you tolerate someone like this being the first contact person with your customer base? I...

Went to Cody's a few days ago. I had high hopes for this restaurant as it looked like it actually make it based on some of the remodeling they had done. This spot has been about 6 different restaurants in the last few years, unfortunately by our meal it looks like Cody's will be joining the ranks in this black whole of a restaurant spot. Nothing about the meal was bad but nothing was special about it either. Everything lacked flavor or tasted like something cheaply store bought. If your familiar with a Texas Roadhouse, Cody's menu is about the same with less variety think Ribs, Burgers, Fajitas. I had the fajitas, i could be wrong but i got the impression this was one of there signature items. They were very average lacking any specific flavor. You can get much better fajitas at the nearby Chili's or TGI Fridays. And that seemed to be the theme with everything on the menu, ok but you could easily get something better at another restaurant that's probably in the same parking lot. Our friends ordered ribs, they had the same complaint ok but lacked flavor. You could probably have better ribs at Ruby Tuesdays, Outback or sonny's across the street. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich and said it was good. We also had chips and queso and the loaded fries. Both were again just average, the cheese in the queso was not anything you couldn't get off the shelf at Walmart. The service wasn't bad. They were very busy and the staff seemed to show it a little but everything was right and drinks were filled. We did notice that the waitress wrote four names on the table saying they would all stop over at some point. I believe 2 of the names were managers. No one but the waitress ever came to the table the whole time. It was just odd that she pointed out that all 3 other people would stop over and no one did. The place actually looks good inside with the exception of the odd back area that has one long booth in the back but no tables or chairs. Not sure what the area is supposed to be but it looks like the forgot to order enough tables for the restaurant. Even throwing a few arcade games in the area would make it look like it belongs rather than a big empty space that was forgotten about. Website states they are open till 10 pm , doesn’t say anything about summer hours!! We Tried to call a head at 8:15 pm and was told no need as there was no lines waiting . We said great be there in about 15 min... No one said they were closing on the phone! We get there at 8:28 get seated and are then told we have a half hour because they are closing due to summer hours.. We order our drinks and our guests order a 2 for 1 happy hour drink. they state on an Cody’s ad(which I had with me because of a coupon)” 2 for 1 happy hour all day everyday” the Waiter says , so sorry that stopped at 7pm.. we say okay...but your advertisement clearly states all day everyday, it doesn’t say a time?? we show them the ad with coupon and he starts saying ... welll, um , ahh , well ... we stop it at 7 pm..I don’t know what this is....Shaking my head... we order our drinks , We asked for a small beer for everyone then and he comes back with a large. I told him no We won’t be able to drink all that in the short amount of time we have , I asked for a small please. The waiter says oh sorry and walks away , doesn’t even try to fix the mistake and yet still charges me for something I didn’t even ask for! When we received our food it was cold and one was missing a side order . Even before we took our first bite , the waiter came over and asked if we were considering desert yet. Are u kidding?? We had family in town for the first time here and was very disappointed and embarrassed for a terrible experience. Felt very rushed from no fault of ours. And the food came out cold and was charged for stuff we didn’t ask for.
