Chickasaw location just in case that doesn’t come up.
I’ve never been to any Don Julio’s, I was craving tacos and it was recommended by a friend. Let me start with the “bad” stuff…it’s taco Tuesday and I didn’t realize so I was super excited. I got 2 birria, 2 Cameron (shrimp) and 2 carne asada (steak) tacos because my eyes are bigger than my stomach. My food was sooooo bland 😣 I ate one of each hoping the flavor would get better…but literally, it all tasted the same…NO FLAVOR. But don’t get me wrong! It wasn’t horrible. Just didn’t taste like authentic Mexican like I had been craving and expected (but not from a chain).
That’s neither here nor there and doesn’t make a dent in this review.
I WILL BE BACK! Even as I walked in I ran into friendly patrons. The atmosphere, decor and music was great. I was immediately sat where I asked, I was brought out my chips and salsa and my server walked right up and introduced herself. ERIKA K. Is an amazing server! She’s very intuitive and knowledgeable. She took other tables, cleared and set other tables but also answered my questions, gave recommendations, was patient, friendly and just exhibited exactly what customer service should be. I’m HUGE in customer service and I’m glad that she was able to make up the sun of my experience. Oh I also got the candy shot which is some sort of watermelon liquor which was super sweet but had a tajin salt rim and was AMAZING! I also got my free shot and a skinny margarita which I’ll get with the tajin salt...

Read moreSo we’ve been coming here for years, back before they began expanding into different locations. One thing I will say is there aren’t many places in Florida that compare to Mexican Restaurants in Texas, but this is one of the very few in Orlando that we do like. That being said, since they’ve been growing, we’ve also noticed they’ve been increasing prices as well, and recently so much that most menu items are around double what they cost around a year ago. This is shocking to us as it far exceeds what we feel is reasonable. Because of this, we weren’t surprised that for the first time ever, the restaurant wasn’t packed for dinner time on a Saturday. In fact it was about half full. As a family, we also have to take costs into consideration, and when our bill came out to double what it usually is, we decided we probably won’t come here anymore due to the very high prices they now have. That being said, our food as usual was awesome, and we’ve got no complaints there. The staff weren’t as responsive as they usually are, which was also odd since they weren’t all that busy. One side effect of not being so busy like they used to be is that finding a parking spot was way easier than it used to be. So Don Julio, thanks for all the memories, and thanks for all the great food we’ve enjoyed over the many years, we will miss your restaurant, but we just can’t anymore for the current prices...
