My first visit to Edwards Restaurant in beautiful Rosemary Beach was for a girl’s night out celebration. Walking up to the entrance and hostess stand, I immediately got the feeling of a charming Mediterranean bistro with its olive tree planted near the entrance to the courtyard and fountain in the center of the patio. The sway of old world lights and the black and white movie projected onto the wall above the landscaping, all added immensely to the charm. We were immediately seated at the chef’s bar. This is where all of Edward’s culinary magic happened before our eyes. Our server for the evening was a very knowledgeable young woman. She presented us with the menu and made several suggestions for wine and appetizers depending on our diverse pallets. I am not a wine aficionado and yet she was still able to find the perfect wine for me. Our selections were made based on suggestions from our server. We decided as a group to order several dishes and sample each one. Our selections were: tuna tartar, fish chowder, roasted beet salad, beef carpaccio, steamed little neck clams, scallops, and crab cake. Although his menu had a variety of salads, steak, pork chops, pasta, and even grilled cheese or mac and cheese available we stayed with more of a seafood theme. We were able to watch the food being prepared since we were sitting at the Chef’s bar. Everything was made with all fresh ingredients, nothing canned or frozen. The moment that the plates were presented to us, it was a feast. A feast for all of the five senses: artfully plated, tantalizing aromas, the taste of culinary perfection, and of course the feel of the crisp bread served with the tuna tartar. There was live music provided by James Couch. The song choices were songs that most people would find familiar. I noticed one table even singing along when he sang, “Ain’t no Sunshine When You’re Gone”. It was not so loud that you could not carry on a normal conversation but it was loud enough so that it could be heard throughout the restaurant. If I had to say anything negative about Edward’s it would be more about myself. I wanted to sample so many more of the dishes that I saw him prepare. I simply could not eat another bite or try any of his desserts. This is a restaurant that is on the must return list each time that I am in the area. I would feel extremely comfortable dinning with friends, children, or that special someone any night...
Read moreStumbled upon this place walking around Rosemary Beach while visiting on vacation, the hosts were super sweet. We sat down and our waitress brought waters almost immediately and then disappeared for an unknown amount of time she seemed busy so it was fine. We ordered the “Joyce Farms Grilled Chicken” meal, Shrimp baked Oysters, and a side of the parmesan cheese grits. We needed our waters refilled almost the whole meal it took her until after the meals came to notice we had no water left. She seemed to help all the other table around us though, I remember a guy a few table down who had the same waitress he had to get help from the bar area because she wouldn’t check up on their table either and he made that loud and clear, sad that it wasn’t just us. Too bad i don’t remember her name but she was not positive whatsoever, did not seem to care about anyone who didn’t order wine it seemed like because any table that had wine she was at their table almost immediately asking if they needed more but it took so long just for my table to get a water? I was there April 16 around 8. The food on the other hand, not so good - would’ve rather had the Old fish house where we went the night before who had excellent service + food might i add, anywho half my chicken was raw, half my chicken seemed good, the mashed potatoes and the parmesan grits were the only two good things about the entire meal. The shrimp baked oysters weren’t the best, they were okay. You would think knowing that there is a lot of travelers coming to this town because it is all over social media they would have higher standards especially better competitors around them but oh well! Don’t take your money here, do not recommend unless you want crappy service and not...
Read moreI usually operate under a policy of not leaving negative reviews. If you can't say something nice don't say anything. However, I was upset enough after visiting Edwards after feeling more fleeced than being served that I'm making an exception. The service was fine, but the food was very subpar. The overall theme of the food was a real lack of seasoning which if I'm paying $200 for a meal it's inexcusable to be that far off on the basics. We had ordered an appetizer and when everyone had polished off the bread, the server asked us if we wanted more bread, then charged us extra for the bread. Normally at an upscale restaurant charging for items like bread seems very miserly. My son ordered chicken tenders and asked for a side of mac 'n' cheese and they charged us not for 1 kids meal and a side of mac, but instead 2 kids meals! Again just a miserly practice without any warning of it. My wife ordered a pasta dish which basically was noodles and a can of tomatoes. Probably cost all of $3 but marked up to $30. Which I could overlook if it was prepped well with decent ingredients, and didn't seem like it was just phoned in. Couple that with a TV stuck over an artistic mural when countless blank walls with nothing on them existed just sort of highlights the total lack of care that extends to their food.
I suppose this is what the TV shows called "uninspired cooking", but what made it so egregious was the price tag which made it seem as if they couldn't care less about the food they were serving.
I won't be making that mistake again in the future, and this review is a reminder to not accidentally...
