We arrived on Friday evening at about 7:10. Place was busy but looking around there were tables leaving and no waiting line. The bar was full but tables in the bar vacant. The hostess said 5-10 min wait for a table and then offered outside seating. My wife accepted this but I had reservations as it would be dark in an hour and colder. We sat outside and the staff was pleasant. Service was quick and drinks returned quickly. Waiter was sarcastic and funny (fine with me and my wife). We enjoyed his humor. We ordered. Bread was brought with oil and seasonings. So far all. Is good. We ordered pasta dishes. Nothing special and no special requests which we were told by the waiter that Chef Vinnie does not accept changes to anything. We finished up the bread and the waiter showed up to refill the iced tea and water. He expected our meals would be out shortly. The bread was refilled but no where near the quality of the first batch. Hard and definitely old. About 40 mins in the waiter came by and said “you didn’t get your order?” He was going to handle it. He came back and said “it should be out soon”. Nope!. Eventually a waitress showed up to tell us it was “number 3 in line”. I was another 30 mins after here before we finally received it. I was already regretting not leaving. It turned dark, cold and windy. My meal was supposed to be a version of chicken fettuccini. After all the waiting I got fettuccini Alfredo. No chicken. Too hungry to bother sending it back. The waiter shows up and I tell him about the chicken. He’s out of words for this whole event. I get the bill and he says “I took the chicken off “ like he did us a favor. Charged us for the fettuccini Alfredo. $21.00. The fettuccini was good. It took 1 hour and 35 min from seating to get our meals. My wife liked her meal which was pasta with tomato’s and sauce (no clue the name). My impression is they don’t care about tourists. This is a local’s place and they’re happy being that way. We are looking for a property in the area and if we buy I’ll never visit them again. Worst experience I’ve ever had in over 30 years of coming to this area. The hotel we stayed at had a list of recommended restaurants. A long list and this place was not on it. The second star was only because I think the staff was sincerely trying and the...
Read moreI’ve been seeing Enzo’s when searching for restaurants the last few weeks so I finally decided to try it. The atmosphere was nice, you can tell it’s been remodeled. We had a reservation at 7:30 and were promptly seated. We started with a bottle of wine. Unfortunately, my wine glass had 360 degrees of pink lipstick stains around the rim. When pointed out to the server, he just offered to pour the wine into a different glass… to me, it was very unappealing since it was already in a dirty glass. Moving forward, the focaccia style bread was served with some type of seasoned olive oil dip. The bread was good, dip didn’t have much flavor. For appetizers, we had a beet and ricotta plate and calamari. My guest enjoyed his beet app, the calamari was mostly rings, not the tentacles. Then we waited quite a while for our dinner. Restaurant was at about half capacity, so didn’t seem too busy. The table that was there long before us said “I guess we don’t get to eat” and I heard them flag the server down. So we knew we would be in for a wait. Many tables were sitting waiting too based on how everyone would turn to see when food came out of the kitchen. The appetizers were served within 5-10 mins of seating… but our entrees didn’t come out until about 8:30-8:40. My son had the kids spaghetti and meatball. My guest had the snapper prepared the Livornese style. He was not a fan of the thick red sauce that drowned the fish, but he’s used to the northern Italy style that does not use as much sauce. I had the grouper franciase, which was the best part of the evening. That part of the meal gets 4 stars. We did not have desert since dinner had lasted too long at that point and my son was falling asleep at the table.
Edited to Add since Owner Replied: I worked in the service industry for several years in college and even as a GM. While I understand lipstick happens, I think attention to detail is missed when a glass is served with it on. I always checked wine glasses before bringing them to a table. And again, it wasn’t just us. Several tables around us were sitting waiting for their food with their tables empty as well. No one came by to check on us, so I didn’t go searching for someone. Instead of attacking my review, use the review as...
Read moreI went to Enzo’s with my family for Father’s Day. It was almost empty so I was a bit hesitant because it’s usually a bad sign when a restaurant is empty on Father’s Day.
The average price for an entree was between $25 and $35, so one would expect a high quality of food. One son ordered veal masala, the other ordered pizza, and I ordered pasta and meatballs. I paid the $2 up charge for linguini pasta instead of spaghettini and specifically asked for the pasta to be cooked al dente.
The meals came out at different times. The veal masala came first and 10 minutes later, my meal came out with spaghettini. The server realized right away and politely asked if I would like the linguine. I confirmed and specifically reiterated that I’d like it to be cooked al dente.
She returned with the pasta and I could tell right away as I twirled it on my fork that it was overcooked. I tasted it and said to the waitress that it wasn’t al dente. She took the pasta back and returned a little while later with the same pasta and said “The chef said the pasta is al dente”.
I became upset and told her I didn’t want the pasta, and asked for the manager. She told me she was the manager, but if I wanted to talk to the owner, I could go to him to discuss it. I asked her to bring him to the table. She told me that he wouldn’t come to the table, and I had to go to him!!! I could not believe this and I was going to go to him with my pasta and have him taste it in front of me.
No need for that - he came over to the table literally yelling at me that I had a “bad attitude” and had to leave the restaurant. This was actually a relief for me because to be honest, not only was the pasta overcooked, but the sauce tasted very similar to a Ragu or Prego grocery store pasta sauce.
We left the restaurant and went to Carini’s on 41. Great food, very reasonably priced and amazing service - maybe the owner of Enzo’s should go there to see how a real restaurant...
