IHOP — Restaurant in Florida

Unfortunately I had a not so pleasant and very disappointing experience this morning at this location. I walked into the location today 7/2/2023 at 10:30am. I was coming to check the wait time for a party of 5. Upon walking in the host, did not acknowledge me but proceeded to acknowledge and help others that came in behind me. I stood at the counter for several minutes and watched as the host blatantly ignored me despite me standing directly in front of him. The host straightened menus and literally just stood there and refused to acknowledge me. I said hello to the employee and still was not acknowledged. I understand that the restaurant gets busy, but to blatantly be ignored while standing directly in front of the host is unacceptable. I feel like the host treated me badly because of the color of my skin. He made it a point to acknowledge every person that came in after me (all were not of color). The host was a Caucasian male with long brown hair that was pulled back into a loose ponytail. It’s really disappointing that IHOP has an employee that behaves this way working at one of their locations. It’s even more disappointing that I’ve never had a bad experience at this location until today. The unfortunate experience has resulted in me leaving the location after several minutes of being blatantly ignored and never wanting to visit this...

Finally the US Hwy 301 location in Riverview is open! Compared to the other location on Bloomingdale this one appears larger…perhaps it’s the design. This one doesn’t have the spilt dining areas like the one on Bloomingdale . The restrooms are upfront as you walk in. I know today was the first day and all of the first day jitters and kinks are being worked out, but being the fact I’m a regular at IHOP I like the fact I can either walk or ride my bike to grab breakfast! One thing I noticed at the booths/tables is they have an outlet that has usb charging so if you need to charge your phone or laptop/tablet. This is especially great for those with kids. Glad someone was thinking when installing those at the booths/tables.

The only thing that was like “blah” for me is that Hillsborough County allowed (zoned) there to be an oil change place about 10-15 feet away from the south side of where this IHOP sits. WHY?! That’s not aesthetically appealing. This is NOT anything bad on IHOP by any means.

There seems to be ample amount of parking. One suggestion is to maybe designate a spot or two for the food delivery services. Maybe one of the parallel parking spots on the north side of the building. Just...

I usually never have an issue with this location, but this past Sunday was an exception. Summary: There was a glitch with my wait time via the text notification. I called to confirm the wait time (since the text notification said that our table was ready… which wasn’t the case). The lady who I spoke to confirmed that our table wasn’t ready and that she couldn’t provide a wait time. I waited longer (about 25 more minutes) and called back to check and the lady I spoke to was very nippy. She then put me on “hold” to check the wait time. This is when I heard her talking to another colleague about me (saying extremely rude things about me and implying that I am bothering her and being annoying). The second woman gets on the phone and says that they are short on cooks and can’t give me a wait time. This would’ve been a more reasonable answer had they said that when I first put my name on the list… not to mention they had no issue providing the party before me with an await time. Very disappointing because I was vet polite and understanding since the beginning…. I don’t understand the hostility from the hostess, so no more...
