EDIT: Apparently the employees are so unethical that they have resorted to posting fake reviews on here (which are blatantly against Google's terms and conditions) in order to salvage their image and Google maps review.
REVIEW: It doesn't matter how good of a deal the specials are if the staff is completely unprofessional, rude, and (for lack of a better word) ghetto. Used to be a great family restaurant. Has gone very far downhill.
Once upon a time I was probably their biggest word of mouth promoter. I have literally lost count how many of my friends and co workers I have brought to this restaurant/bar. But my last experience opened my eyes to some very unprofessional/unethical business practices that left a very sour taste in my mouth.
The problem is that they don't appear to properly screen/background check their employees (in fact one has admitted to me that she is an ex inmate). Favoritism also seems to be a distinct and very problematic theme. The favoritism is so pronounced that management is disproportionately lenient towards favored employees to such a high degree that they receive "slaps on the wrist" for outrageous offenses that, at virtually ANY OTHER RESTAURANT, would result in IMMEDIATE TERMINATION!!! I guess the favoritism is more important than potentially losing an incalculable (literally) amount of business in the long run (not to mention countless new clientele.)
It's very disheartening and sad to be forced to end my religiously steady Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday dining out routine. BUT as a matter of principle, I can no longer promote, support, or in any way contribute to a business that seemingly facilitates and enables blatant employee delinquency and dereliction.
To say the very least, if there aren't some much needed changes made to the current staff, I don't think I can ever feel comfortable dining at kelseys ever again.
Kelseys on Cortez (probably unknowingly) has just lost their biggest (free) sponsor/promoter and simultaneously clinched their biggest oppositionist. All in one fell swoop.
Not only will I never recommend this place to anyone again, I will most assuredly advise as many people as I can against EVER dining here.
That being said, there's plenty more chicken wings in the sea lol. I guess it's time to jump ship and check out the new beach themed wings restaurant (Hurricane Wings) that everyone keeps talking about that just recently celebrated their grand opening on 66th street and Cortez! Ironically, on the same street as kelseys and just two...
Read moreI guess u get what u pay for. With a decent 3.00 burger 4.00 w fries not a bad deal unless of course u r willing 2 deal with a hostess who overlooked our name because she thought we had a party of 6 even though we corrected her twice. She was plaesant enough and took the blame however after being sat w another party ( they did ask us if we minded first but no table for 2 after waiting 30 min ) once seated for 45 minutes I felt my right 2 question where our burgers were only to be told by the rude waiter from NJ "don't u see how busy we are" .Since I didn't like his answer I turned 2 return 2 my table only 2 b told "don't u walk awayfrom me when I'm talking 2 u" .the manager did come 2 our table to defend the waiter saying that I cursed at him .I'm loiud but I don't curse and didn't then or ever. So he lied. And still the manager herself went on to make excuses for the service etc. What happened to the customer is always right. Not ever an apology or free 3.00 club soda or even a thank you from server when he gave my husband the bill .he totally ignored me .the only satisfaction I got was in NO TIP on a 16.00 bill .we always give the tip based on nomal prices not the reduced 3.00 burger. By the way also not a great deal when u consider they charge 3.00 for a drink that most bars don't charge. I will pay reg price somewhere else like...
Read moreGREAT FOOD, OUTSTANDING SERVER STAFF My wife and I went to dinner last night as we have done once or twice a week since the second day Kelsey's opened years back. We've known many of the staff over the years as well as the former owners, and have always had an excellent dining experience. This night our server was Courtney (one of our favorites) who was friendly and efficient, taking good care of us as always. The staff at Kelsey's, such as Courtney, Tasha, Wayne, and others, has always been a major reason why we have been loyal customers, we we enjoy the people as much as the food. We can only hope that the new owners understand how important long term staff are to a success of their business.
The only issue we had last night, which is rare, was the bar service. After Courtney brought my first pint, I ordered a second during dinner. I waited about 20 minutes, the whole time Courtney apologizing that the beer was not up. We asked her to cancel the beer and prepare our check. We had our check and were ready to pay, when all of a sudden my beer arrived -- WE SENT IT BACK. During our wait there was only about 6 people at the bar and the restaurant was not busy. The inefficiency of the bar staff UNFAIRLY reflects on the server...
