The employees are SUPER friendly! Genuinely friendly with the kind of energy that almost rubs off on you and you can't help but smile. When you order you'll be asked The Question of the Day. "What was your first Halloween costume", "What's your favorite band", "What's your dream profession." For some, like myself, it's a bit awkward because then you're like "ugh that old man sitting 5 tables away is totally going to judge me when they yell out my answer." And yes, I do think that way. (Answers: I was an M&M, Ellie Goulding, Mermaid)
Their chicken can be perceived as spicy, their biscuits are flaky and perfect, their bacon I cannot get enough of, and the syrup...well I feel a pitcher should be on each table. There's many different coffee flavors and options, but I don't drink coffee.
We've been a few times, we but this particular time we mixed it up. Hubs got The Sticky Maple as always, but I got The Chicken Club. We got the Bluegrass Grits Cut with Cream Cheese as well as the Hashbrown Cake.
Sticky Maple - Biscuit, Chicken, Bacon, drenched in Maple Syrup. There really shouldn't be more to explain. But their menu description is, "Flaky biscuit, all natural fried chicken breast, pecan wood smoked bacon all topped with Bissell Family Farm real maple syrup"
The Chicken Club - "Flaky biscuit, all natural fried chicken breast, pecan wood smoked bacon, iceberg lettuce, tomato topped with blue cheese, ranch, or honey mustard dressing" For me, it was more like all three dressings. On the side. I wanted to try them all and yet, I'm not sure I can narrow it down to just one!
Bluegrass Grits Cut with Cream Cheese - I wasn't going to try these. I mean, cream cheese mixed with grits!? Why? Why not butter or normal shredded cheese or both!? But I put my spoon into the bowl. And claimed them as "mine." My husband was allowed a bite or two. But they became mine because they were so gosh-darn-Delicious! Not too gritty and creamy and just "yum!"
Hashbrown Cake - "Hashbrown potatoes stuffed with smoked gouda cheese topped with chives." I didn't like this as much as I thought I would. Hubs wanted to try it as it was different than the normal shredded hashbrowns or home fries, but it...
Read moreI was so excited to finally try Maple Street Buscuit Company, and now that I have, I have some thoughts. For a place that has 'biscuit' in the name, I had really high hopes for the biscuits to be so much better. I consider myself to be a bit of a biscuit Baroness, if you will. I have high standards for them, and these biscuits simply fell flat. They were not fluffy or soft or buttery. They were tough, dry and crunchy. I could've cried at how disappointing they were. The fried chicken I had with the biscuit was seasoned nicely, but it was also dry. Again, I could've cried! The coffee was a let down as well. It had a bitter aftertaste and it was warm, not hot. I gather from sitting in the carafe. I understand and like the idea of self serve coffee. However, after sitting for who knows how long, it lost its heat and developed that awful bitter taste that all true coffee lovers shudder at. Now for the service. The service at Maple Street is wonderful and warm and inviting. Truly the only part of this visit I really loved was the interaction with the servers. They are so sweet and made the atmosphere such a cozy one. I am so thankful for that. Overall, I just wasn't impressed with the food and I'm really heartbroken about that. I may try it again in the future and try something else from the menu and get a specialty made coffee instead of the self serve coffee. We'll see what happens!
Edit* I gave Maple Street another try and I'm convinced that the day I went in was a very off day. Every time I've been in since has been amazing. Buscuits, chicken, coffee...EVERYTHING is spot on. Service is top notch as always. Truly one of the few places I have been to that goes above and beyond to make you feel like family. Thank you...
Read moreShort review: Clean restaurant and dining area. Excellent food. Friendly staff. Delicious coffee. Fair prices. Seemingly all menu items are fresh/natural/homemade. That being said, not sure why the bottles of ketchup at the tables are the Heinz ketchup with High Fructose Corn Syrup (as opposed to homemade ketchup or the simply Heinz which has sugar instead of HFCS). Still worth the five stars, will be back again.
Detailed review: Walked in, picked a few items off the menu for my wife, daughter, and I to eat. They asked who is one person I would most like to eat breakfast with, I said Jesus. Didn't offer military discount, but gave the three of us each a free iced biscuit, which was nice. Found out after sitting and reading the card at the table that customers bus their own tables. They called out "Jesus!" and so I knew our order was ready So I went and got our food from the pickup counter, got my coffee, and began eating. I ordered the sticky maple, and it was phenomenal. Maple tap coffee was outstanding. Put our dirty dishes in the bin by the door, and left feeling very satisfied. They have t-shirts, coffee beans, and maple syrup for sale by the door, a nice touch for those who dont live close enough to come here more often (coffee beans are a bit expensive though). Excellent experience, will definitely...
