Mi Pueblo El Restaurante Mexicano & Cantina - University — Restaurant in Florida

This is the first time in a while that my family and I have chosen to eat at this restaurant and it was honestly a disappointment compared to the way the service and food quality used to be. Upon my family’s arrival I was presented with a paper menu much like you would receive in a fast-food restaurant. The waitress took such a long time that the young boy who delivers chips had already gave us our chips long before she ever appeared to take our drink orders. Not only that but we had already finished the chips by the time the drinks ever made it to our table. I will, however, say that the food did make it to our table in about 20 minutes which is an appropriate time for what we ordered. Although, the food didn’t appear to be fresh as it lacked some heat and the waitress didn’t tell you to be careful like in my previous visits. Not to mention, that the amount of time it took for my son to get a refill on his Dr. Pepper was so long that I even had to share my drink with him which wasn’t such a big deal but it wasn’t a good experience for my son. Lastly, the prices for the portions weren’t really what one would expect, considering that Mr. Tequila’s, Habaneros, Plaza Mexico, and Poblanos have cheaper prices for bigger portions. Near the end of my visit I asked for a to-go box since I didn’t feel like eating after the bad experience and it took incredibly long to be brought for just one box. It was definitely a bad experience and I’m not sure if I’d return considering that their service and overall experience used...

I was a little hesitant to try this place after looking at the prices. There are SO many choices in this area to get good Mexican food and with most of the entrees being $15-19 each, it was on the high end of the scale. On the other hand, there's almost 2,000 reviews as of today and a 4.5 rating, so... TL;DR: it's worth it! I had the steak fajitas. I've had steak in some places where I'm not sure WHAT part of the cow it came from to call it steak. This was not one of them. They brought out a sizzling platter which looked like they had taken a good-sized quality steak and sliced it into strips so large, you only needed two for each fajita. Quality, taste, presentation everything about it was fabulous. I will definitely get this dish again. My wife raved about her tacos as well, AFTER she requested some avocado dressing to go on them. It was far too dry without it, but the flavor was wonderful. She gets fish tacos quite often and she commented that she's never had three tacos where each one had such a large piece of fish. She will definitely get this dish again. They close after lunch and reopen at 4:30. We were there shortly after that and the crowd was already showing up. By the time we left (maybe 5:30?) the place was full and people were looking for parking spots! In a nutshell, definitely worth it. ...

I don’t even know where to start. I went here for my 30th birthday tonight and called ahead (yes, I understand that don’t take reservations) but just wanted to know the wait time. I told them I had 16 people in my party and I was told 25 minutes. We arrive to the restaurant 15 minutes later 6:15pm. While waiting on line to put my name in, every person in front of me was told 25 minutes but mine was 45. Not what I was told on the phone. So we waited. And waited and waited. After over an hour, we get our table. It’s 730 now. We get to our table and our waitress had to been new or something. She didn’t speak much English so was not able to separate the checks. We were sat next to a large, super loud party to where we had to yell to talk. After we order our food, my brother shows up right at 8pm, and was told the kitchen is closed and he can not order food or drinks. It took forever to get our food and a while to check our check. We did not leave the restaurant till after 9pm!!!!!!!! 3 hours for food? Half of our food was cold and flavorless. This was always my favorite restaurant for birthdays and special occasions. Sad to say I will never come...
