I have dined in twice at this restaurant and taken out several times. It is quite good, on par with the fish and chips we got in a newspaper when I was growing up in Australia. The people at this restaurant are very nice. No one ever seems to be in a bad mood. They are actually especially kind and welcoming. The ladies that run the place treat you as though you belong there. You never feel awkward. The food is absolutely delicious. I do love the malt on my fish so be sure to ask for a couple portions if you're taking it home because the containers are fairly small. The place is fairly popular and fills up with people who are nice and friendly to even strangers. They will yell across the room to you to talk to you. It's a little oddity that I thought was from Australia. Nobody feels they have two stick to their own table. They can say anything they want to anyone and it's always something nice. I've never heard a mean thing said there. It's always friendly and welcoming. I think it's a group that's been going there for a long time but they don't distinguish between old and new people. They are friendly to everyone. You just have to look up and catch their eye and they will definitely talk to you. The place is not fancy but it does the job and it is comfortable to eat there. You can also take things home and that's comfortable also. The food is very light and flaky. The fish is delicious. I would highly recommend this place. You can also get drinks including beer I believe. I think the joy of this place is that it is so friendly and the food is good. It makes people want to get out if they've been locked in at home for a while. Give her a try you mug. Tricky to get to because it's back in a mall which is not easily accessible from certain locations. Don't give up,...
Read moreI absolutely love the fish here and I don't think that you'll find any better fish and chips anywhere around here. I only gave 3 stars because for the 2nd time, they've given me iced tea that's gone bad and has a rotten taste. I didn't complain this time because the first time that it happened, the people at the counter weren't at all interested in the issue and just dismissed my complaint saying that they hadn't had any problems so far. Maybe they'll read this.
EDIT 11/06/24; WHAT A BAZARE EXPERIENCE I JUST HAD! I came in tonight and ordered water for myself and the iced tea for my 78 year old companion to drink with our food. The owner SAID that he was WAITING for me to return so that he could REFUSE to sell me iced tea because of the previous review. I told him that the iced tea wasn't an issue because I had ordered water BUT upon finding out that his plan to refuse ME his iced tea wasn't unfolding the way that he intended, he then REFUSED to allow my elderly companion to have any iced tea EITHER! What bazare behavior! I completely fail to comprehend WHY this guy wasn't willing to let sleeping dogs lie as I assured him that the iced tea WASN'T AN ISSUE anymore as I wasn't ordering it but he kept at me about it and my companion became upset and walked out of the place. Does ANYONE think that upsetting a nice elderly lady is any way to engage in customer service? I'm kinda stunned as I note down this update and wonder why he wanted to raise a ruckus about an issue that I wasn't bringing up anymore and had moved on from. He lost the sale and it would appear that we won't be back for more abuse anytime soon. This reminds me of the SOUP NATZI straight out of a Sinefeld...
Read moreWildly inconsistent. I'll pass on the coleslaw. The fried fish is often too wet and undercooked, sometimes it's a grease sponge, sometimes it's crunchy, hot, and delicious. Much like the owner's attitudes. Sometimes they're unnecessarily insulting and cruel toward customers with disabilities, sometimes seemingly miserable to be there, grouchy and short with customers, sometimes friendly and welcoming. You really never know what you're going to get. I probably won't be back after today's experience of the owner's wife denying my husband (who is on the heart transplant list) use of the restroom after we had picked up our takeout order. Instead of nicely asking if he was a paying customer, which he was, they shamefully treated him like trash, mocked him, and humiliated him in front of the other restaurant patrons. I was horrified. Edit: I sometimes try to give businesses a second chance to redeem themselves (it's been about a year) as I did today. Restaurant was dark. Empty. No food smell in the air at all. Owner's son refused service to me for giving fair, honest google reviews. After reading other online reviews of bad experiences and self sabotage, I won't be surprised if they close up soon. Customer service is everything. Rip okuk. Once, you...
